What movies are about the Hundred Year War ?
Example: Was Braveheart even close to the Hundred year war?

Braveheart was a little earlier than the 100 y/w but still falls within the context of the BattleLore setting. Also, that was wars between the english and scottich. The 100 y/w was primarily between england and france. Though Scotland was involved as well.
I would say that the context also covers the crusades so you can go about 300 years before the 100 y/w as well. I would think the age of renassaince might by when warfare changed enough (basically once gunpowder came into play) that BL will probably start to break off - though they may try to stretch it that way.
Having said that, Braveheart fits the bill. Anything with Joan of Arc. Tail end of the crusades - so there is a handful of those movies.

There are 3 Joan of Arc movies that I know of. The recentish Milla Jovovich effort got mixed reviews, but I liked it, and there were a lot of gritty battle scenes. There are two Henry V movies, and the later one with Kenneth Brannagh is a corker

I realize that but you are talking about a period of 400 or so years give or take 100 years. It's not like it is confined to a 5 or 6 year war. Plus the subject matter can range from a lot of stuff. What are you more interested in - the historical accuracy? or to take in the theme? fantasy? Just watching the Lord of the Rings trilogy will take up most of one weekend and cover all your bases. You could watch Disney's Robin Hood. Or Kevin Costner's Robin Hood (whatever the title was). Monty Python's Holy Grail. Lot to choose from....
I found this site. Seems to be an interesting list but hard to vouch for everything....

Great List, Thanks very much.
I do understand that "Lord of the Rings" would be a good
starter , but of course we all have seen that one. I have seen
most of the others but Was hoping some classics would pop up that I have not seen. One not yet viewed is "The Messenger" and will try to see it soon.
And after reviewing the web link list you posted I found a
classic I had forgotten about. "Ladyhawk" was a great movie
in its day. I remember having this movie poster on my wall in my first apartment.
Thanks alot , good stuff.

Tragedy, Not about the Hundred Years War but try to get the Charlton Heston movies, The Warlord and El Cid. Also Kingdom of Heaven and The Messenger and Brave Heart. Like I said not the 100 Y W but some good Medieval flicks.

The thing with this period of history is that it's a very long period and too many things happened: politics, battles, crusades, famous characters... the period is too dense and the cause and consequences of this war are far too complicated to be explained in movies (which would focus on battles, mainly).
I read a book a while ago that covers the the war from the beguining to the end (1500pages!). It was a novel on a fictionous character, but placed in the historical context of the war and all the politics involved... It is very well documented. I really had a good time reading it. unfortunatly, this book is in french, and i didn't found any english translation.

Barbara Tuchman's book was a good read. Also try Sharon Kay Penman's books. She wrote 4 or five Medieval novels. She has a web page that show her books.

Now that we're talking about books, we can't leave out The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follett, which takes place during the 12th Century.

Just finished re-reading PotE last night. An outstanding book. Doesn't really cover battles in detail (with one exception), but gives great insight into life during the 12th century in western europe, primarily England. The intertwining of religion, politics, economics and family life during this period are explored in great detail, through the eyes of many fully-developed characters.
Oh, and the boardgame is pretty good too!

For a movie close if not right on period, Flesh + Blood starring Rutger Hauer and Jennifer Jason Lee. Rutger Hauer plays a leader of a mercenary band who are cheated by their employer.
Book-wise, I usually stick to histories and just finished a great Bio of Edward III. I am also currently reading a history on Agincourt by Juliet Barker. Last but not least, Froissart's Chronicles is an enjoyable read (Penguin books). Fiction - some great mysteries have been written that take place during the period but otherwise, not much that I can think of. Try the Drawing of the Dark (Tim Powers I think)as a fantasy novel about an English mercenary in Vienna.
