 a new guy question...

hello everyone, I'm pretty new to this game and had a basic question that I could not find the answer to.
Q - When you start a new senario you are prompted to draw cards. The axis player is always listed in order at the top to draw cards, then the next entry is for the allied player to draw cards. Does this mean that the axis player always gets top card & does he draw all of his cards first or do you take turns like you would if you were dealing cards in a poker game?
I'm assuming this would be a "house-rules" decision but, I would like info from some of the "pros" haha.

First of all, welcome to the forum BIGNAP44.
There is no rule on how you draw your cards and the question is not covered in the FAQ, so I guess you and your opponent are able to do as you like.
I normally start with the side getting the most cards and give out cards alternating between the sides, and if the side with more cards need more I deal them.
Example: German 5 cards, Allies 3 cards
Deal: G, A, G, A, G, A ,G, G

It covers all expansions, but has a table of contents so it should be easy to navigate.

I think most players have the player who moves first in a scenario draw one card first and from then on alternate drawing cards.

at the beginning of the game, I see how many cards each player gets and deal them out like in poker. I Don't know if it makes a difference as long as it's random.

Here is how our game group starts a game.
Deal out a number of card piles (4 maybe 5) equal to the max number of cards either player should have. Each player then selects a pile. If you have to many cards compared to the number listed for the scenario, discard cards to get down to the proper number at random, before looking at your cards. Place the unselected card piles back in the deck and shuffle the deck.

i actually don't see a big difference on how to draw the cards
basically you just shuffle 3-4 times the entire deck, and you can even give all cards at once to the first player (or the second player doesn't matter), because after reshuffling, i should say that all cards become random, but Richard's suggesstion looks like fun to me, even though i found that the most efficient way is just to simply shuffle and alternate each other

Steve, statisticians say that it takes about 7 good shuffles to make a deck reasonably random.
