Giants powerless?

Got Smallworld for iPad a few days ago & the Giants aren't getting their -1 attack credit when conquering regions adjacent to mountains. Anyone else experiencing the same issue? Thank you!

I suspect that you're making the same mistake I did when I first started playing the board game...
You only get the -1 attack credit when you already control the mountain. Once you control the mountain, all adjacent regions are a little easier to conquer (including other mountains, if there are any).
