Rule Question-Scenario-Board Game Mon, 23 July 2012 03:18
Played my second game tonight, really enjoy it but had a question regarding locomotives and drawing cards.
Scenario-

5 face up cards, 4 are color cards and 1 loco

Scenario 1)
Player decides to blind draw and gets a color train, can that player then take the loco from face up?

Scenario 2)
Player draws loco from blind draw, can that player then draw the loco from face up?

If it is a blind draw that nobody knows what you drew, what prevents you from taking the face up loco, my thought was that the only way to get the face up loco in any of these scenarios is to draw it face up first and then your turn is over.
I searched the forums and got about 11 pages in and didn't see it but I am sure I missed it somewhere.

Thank You!

No, you can not take a Face Up Loco if you take any other card (face up, face down, etc). A face-up loco counts for your whole turn of drawing...and if you only have 'half' of the draw left, you can't do it.

Again, you cannot take a Face Up Loco if you drew anything that turn.

I hope that makes sense! Cool Let us know if you have any other questions and welcome to this great game. Smile

So basically once a card has been drawn blind, the face up loco is off limits. The only way to get a face up loco is on the first draw and when taken face up your turn is over so you only had 1/2 a draw.

If I blind draw regardless, the second draw means that loco face up is off limits.

Got it, that is what we had thought just wanted to clarify with some pro's Smile

THANK YOU

My pleasure!

As a side note, I made a mistake for a very long time before figuring out we had been playing it wrong...

We played that if I took a card from the Face-Up cards - let's say a Black card - and the flipped card was a Loco, I got to take it as my second card. We played it wrong, because even if a Loco shows up as the second card, it would be off limits because it takes a whole turn to take one of those cards.

You're probably playing it right, but just in case you were making the same mistake as me, I thought it was worth mentioning. Cool
