Re-enter the game when dying

Hi,
we've just had a major discussion about the rules of the game.
When a player dies, can he or can he not re-enter the game as a
new knight?
The rulebook have a section about new players, saying that
a newcomming player, can join the game as a new knight and
then draw 5 white cards.
But can a dead player do the same trick?
I hope not, but let me hear your oppinion about the subject.
Kind regards
Jonas

I would think that would be up to the gaming group. I don't see a problem with it, although I've found (generally speaking) that once a knight goes down, it isn't long before the others do to.

If you want to play by the rules, then no.
But, you can do whatever you and the other players decide.

Unless you want to make home rules, the answer is no. In a certain way, it keeps up the challenge. If a dead knight could reenter the game, he would simply sacrifice all his life points to slow the progression of evil and make additional heroic actions. By the way, even if a knight is dead and the other loyal knights bring enough swords to the round table and win, he wins too

Well, technically speaking, he wouldn't be a new player; a new knight, yes but not a new player.

The answer should be NO
For the following reasons (imho):
1) As said above, it cheats the game by delaying Evil due to constant suicide sacrificing.
2) Loophole to get 5 new cards (+Merlin), and full life (if your Knight is not doing well)
3) Effecting the losing conditions of the game. (i.e. Ina a 3p game, if a Knight dies you have 5 more Knights at your disposal, with expansion add 7 more! 12 Knights on standby??? No Challenge)
Thoughts?

The rules don't allow you to simply die and then come back into the game; in fact they are very clear that if you die and nobody has the Grail you are out (if I remember right...I don't have the rules in front of me right now).
But if people really want to let people rotate back into the game because that's fun for them, I don't see why that couldn't be allowed by the group. In the end it's all about fun and as long as people are enjoying their game, they can play however they want!

Hello,
maybe a little late to give my opinion but, I think you cant do that, because if you are traitor, and you dont like to be one, you could cheat game, die on purpose and take another knight with new loyalty card.
Just my opinion.

We often play that you can come back in, but only with a new knight. So when play with 7 players, if you die you're out. If you only have 6, you get one respawn, etc. etc.

About the only time we allow someone to re-enter a game is if another player has to leave the game (go home, etc.), then they can take over the other's character.
But, hey, here's another thought- the person out of the game gets to be the waiter (or serving wench) for the rest of the knight's night! Bring on the snacks!
