  Record One Infantry Misses Sat, 01 December 2012 19:54
Can anyone beat this record? In "Counterattack on Mortain", I played the Germans. In this scenario, I failed attacks on one infantry figure 7 times (different figures) with a total of 13 dice misses. Needless to say, my opponent won the game and reinforced my bias that dice rolls cannot be random in Memoir 44 online.

If someone can win the lottery at extreme odds then yes it is possible for you to miss with 13 dice possible but not probable.

Are you entertaining the thought that your opponent or the online system is able to manipulate or be able to control the roll of the dice?

Sometime ago I posted of more than 40 shots against armour with zero hits. Unfortunate when it was a desert scenario and all your opponent had was armour. Laughing Mad Shocked Mad Laughing

I looked at your game and did not see anything amiss. In fact by turn seven you had 9 hits out of 11 dice. Pretty nice. By the end of the game you had 18 hits out of 37 dice (48.6%) pretty reasonable I would say. I think you are protesting too much.

If your opponent had won the Iron Man award then I think you would have something to moan about.

Dice rolls are random. But 13 dice misses give you the Friday the 13th Black Cat award.

After further review of your game I can only say that missing seven times on one unit is not a deal breaker. It happens and is not a statistical anomaly, especially since this is an accumulation of misses over several rounds. And your 13 misses were spread out amongst many units, not against one unit. It all seems very normal and random to me.

Well, this was against a tank unit recently and caused my loss at St Vith as the Germans.

Two attacks of 3d each - 1 hit.

Two attacks of 3d each with no retreat - 1 hit.

Two attacks of 3d each with no retreat - 0 hits.

So a total of 18 dice (12 with no retreat) and 2 hits total Mad

Meanwhile that one tank managed to finish off 4 units.
