+ a snake game:
first question:
snake means that all cards u place must count for longest?
(if u place montreal-ssm-dul-helena-seattle-portland-slc-helena
u can´t place sea-van without a penalty?
am I right with that?
what is the ruling in snake, if a player makes with his last card a penalty, which can´t be called because the game is over after he placed it...
does the rule of no5+ apply you lose the game even if u had the most points?

Knock has said that if you do not take your penalty, you lose the game. So this applies to the end of the game.
It is implied in point 9 of the rules, but is not clear. The same "special case" outlined in the NO 5/6er rules also applies to Snake. (would be interesting if it didn't apply though - would change strategy a little for ending the game)

Rules edited to be clearer.
In fun you can break the rules, it's part of strategy. But in return a penalty is needed for that. So breaking the rules in your last turn isn't allowed.
Pammes : so what is the result of your match : 3-2 or 2-3 ?

So, because it's a general way to rule, I allowed myself to update the rule #9 (but tell me if I'm wrong) :
For all variants : if you don't take your penalty the very next turn (or if you can't, because it's the last turn), you lose the game.

Your quote does not match what you provide here. Hence the reason I made the play I did in the snake round.
If I didn't think I could play off of a loop anywhere I wanted, I would have made a different set of plays, and I am sure Pammes knows how I could have done that. But, I had this as an alternative in my head and used it.
The implication to me (at least in my mind) is that you can make a loop and have a free pass to take off anywhere from that circle/loop. However, as is now clear to me - every play must count towards 'extending longest.'
However, I also have another question.
Say I play 6 orange, 2 gray, 5 red
Pure snake rules would tell me that I can only leave via Helena now, yes?
But, this writing implies an exit point anywhere in the circle. I could take 6 purple if I wanted as my next play if that is correct. Something I have also considered the few times I have played these variants.

I did not intend to break a rule as I felt I was playing within them. I agreed to forfeit the game in discussion afterward because it seemed that there was a better understanding by someone who likely has played it more than I. Like any game player, I was trying to understand all avaiable tools allowed to win - just like anyone else. Clearly, my mind works differently than most.
It's just a fun tournament. Thank you Sylvain for volunteering your time to TD. It is appreciated. It is my own fault if I take things like semantics in the rules too seriously.

Snake as "in one single track snake", in other words if the snake bites its tail you may continue ANYWHERE(!) from that circle (same with double-circle or more circles).
To me 6 pink is good !
You can leave anywhwere from helena, omaha or duluth ! But next move will determine the new tail and head of your snake.
I.e= you play 4 grey Hel Cal : you played from your head in Helena. Head is now in Calgary. However your tail is now in Helena (can not be in Duluth or Omaha anymore).
Edit : well, double with Knock now hehe

Snake: *138 - 104 (3 nice tixs and no mistake with first move)
5tix: 148 - 139* (only one loco; but good tixs to keep the longest)
8+nono: *131 - 123 (3 big tixs, but needed a lot of small routes while patterson was playing 6ers, so I had to draw and took 2 tixs for 74 tix points and only 57 road points !)
draw open: 101 - 122* (3 little tixs for me but good colors for patterson this time with LA-Mia and Den-Pitt)
no5/6: 095 - 120 (3 tixs again for me. I played a blocking game, and patterson took 2 penalties but found enough good tixs !)

Yes, yes. I get the point. I got it once Pammes started the discussion after the game.
My current point is that we need to REWORD the rule. If you only read the rule and have little to no experience with the variant, you can interpret it in the way I did. That's all.

5tix: 161-126* (really nice big tixs for me + KC-Hou missed. I clicked wrong at the beginning and took colors before having 5 tixs. Hogika didn't call penalty, but even with the sixth ticket (Chi-Sanfe so -9 points) I would have won)
