WARNING Game HACKS online Wed, 08 May 2013 22:14
I would like to hear anyone elses thoughts on this and anyway we can protect ourselves against it.

There are at least 2 people active today that are Hacking the game and ruining it for others one way or another.

Cadet: "YOLO"
I was unlucky enough to get caught out with this again and it has a negative affect on your Honor.
At the start of the game YOLO instantly said "Ha Ha CYA" and the game just froze, a computer did not take over and it eventually just kicked me from the server for not being active, I would log back in. it said active game contiue I said yes and so on however I could not move no matter what I did.
I thought I would wait it out and tryed to work online but only to find I had a some kind of virus/trojan Browser stealer that kept redirecting anything I tried to do funny enough to my ebay login account until I shut down and ran CC Cleaner, wich is how I am back on now.

Second and u will also find information about this issue on the French forum,

FL: "UNREALIK"
His is a scam of a differant kind UNREALIK is even on the top 10 board for skilled palyers, I have played him at least 4 games in the past and his record of games played today showed 6 !, he is very skilled but parades as a beginer, I know of at least 1 person a Colonel who too has experinaced this with him and no doubt there are more of you, in fact the last time I saw UNREALIK was last week and he had 12 games on his record and today 6, the big concern is if he can cheat his record what other damage are they capable of.

OK
Well I did all I can do by bringing it to your attentions.

It looks like Unrealik is a Czech who plays twenty games with a free account, then gets a new account one number up. Unrealik187 is what he's up to today. (I lost both sides of Operation Cobra to him when he was Unrealik34.) So that's 20x186=3720 games. Wow. (I am curious to know if he ever made Captain on any of his free trials.)

His previous moniker 2 days ago was Unrealik186, which he used to make (provisional) Rank=2, 1627, by scoring 12W,7L. In 15 days, it will be knocked off, so I'm not too worried about it. When I see a cadet, I consider the possibility they might have played 50+ games face-to-face. If he's telling people he never played before, then that's just rude.

If Days of Wonder wanted to prevent taking advantage of the free trial, there could have limited it just to scenarios from the base game. Personally, I don't think it's worth getting a new email and wiping my computer of the software every couple days just to avoid paying $8 or $30.

Note: I've come to suspect there's a way to avoid losing credits when you play. I think I played more games in 2011-2012 than my original Major pack of 2400 GIs should have allowed.

After a good couple of rolls or sequence of cards, I used to joke that I had a dice and/or card cheat. Laughing

PS: In future, please start threads about the Online game in the Online forum page.

I had last week a player that agreed on 2 games, i started game 1 with the airpower card, i did some damage and suddenly i noticed he left and i had the same thing, a bot would take over but never played a card, when i finally left the game after at least 10 minutes, i was prompted also each time if i would like to resume that game.
when i said yes i was in te same circle again, the bot never played a card.
I then looked to set the player to my ignore list and found it also strange he played only a couple of games before.
strange because his name came up a long time ago so i expected him to have played more games then what i found.

Although it's nice of you guys to warn us of the possibility of a bug or virus, it is extremely unlikely that the player planted a virus in your game through Memoir '44 Online. If that were true, you should not be reporting this to us on the forum, you should be sending a message directly to DoW so they can deal with it.

More likely is that the program crashed after trying to reconnect to the game, which still sounds like something to tell DoW but is not the fault of the player! They may have left, but I find it unlikely that they attacked your computer.

Also, this forum is dedicated to the Board Game version of Memoir '44, so this topic would be better over in the Online game forum instead. Cool

Thanks All

My bad on the whole wrong forum thing, sorry and thanks for letting me know respectably.

Yes UNREAL is going a very long way around to avoid a few quid, I wont ever knock anyone for any financial struggle they may have (god Ive been there) so as long as we are all on the same page live and let live.

The whole computer will not take over thing !
well I have to agree that its a long shot with the browser issue I then had, I get that, but this is the second time that I have had this problem in 2 years (no browser issue the first time), what leans me towards this theory is right out of the blue a few months ago I opened a simple attachment from a very good source but the next thing for no good reason I was sending the same email to every contact I had (I was not aware for while), IT traced it and told me it was just the people who do this for fun ! Surprised (what a waste of talent) and that I just had to change my email password and all was back to normal, sure enough it worked and my password back then was tighter than an enigma machine could put together so I was really shocked.

I will touch with DOW and see if there is anything we can do to stop the Honor bashing and then post a new thread in the correct place if anything good comes of it.

OK all
Thanks again.
