Ambush card bug Mon, 19 August 2013 17:36
Had an ambush card in hand and activated it !

But the game failed to detect it !

This happens alot, but this time it might have cost me the game Sad

I found that you have to raise the card early, before the computer switches to Battle Phase. Even then, in Auto Mode it might chose a conflict that doesn't happen, so skips using it that turn. If you choose Manual Mode, then your opponent will know you have it and could decide not to attack with his lone-fig inf (which is what happened the last time I had it in Manual).

i raised the card when my opponent was selecting his units. It marked that it was going to be used from diffrent sides, but it simple didnt give me the opportunity to use it. Sad

Looking at the replay page, you might have had it in Auto Mode (as I do), and it was saving it to use against the lone-fig inf in the rice paddies. Since the first attack from a 3-fig inf scored 2 flags=2 hits plus 1 hit to kill, you didn't get to use it.

I don't advise switching it to Manual (unless playing Johnny), because your opponent will know you have it and may choose not to attack. If you had it in Manual, you probably would have saved it for the 1-fig inf anyway (who didn't attack because you were already dead), because it would be unlikely to get 3 hits or 2 flags on the first Japanese infantry to kill it or keep it from attacking.

Also, don't forget that you aren't seeing things in "real time". When you see them selecting units, they might be seeing the results of their attacks, depending on connection speeds and such. It's not always the case, but that could also have been the problem; you tried to Ambush after he had already attacked.

I have had games where my opponent knowing I had the ambush card played very conservatively resulting in a win for me! Smile

Sometimes just the thought of knowing they hold the ambush card can intimidate.

The only perfect solution to program the ambush card into memoir online, would be that on every attack the opposite player would agree with rolling the dices, even if he's not holding the ambush card.
It would be time consuming and annoying for most players I think.

I'm with JFKoski on this matter (the way to deal with the situation, not what would be the ideal programming solution!) and play Auto-Ambush. From my stats, which I started around 10 months ago, I'm unhappy with the AI choice only around 1 in every 12 situations. Much preferable to «Tell-Ambush»...

Hear hear.

The only Ambush bug that bothers me is that you can play it on a unit in the water... They shouldn't be able to roll any combat dice.

And that a sniper can ambush a tank; a sniper should not be able to attack a tank.
