Hi all

My names Chris and I'm a 28 year old marketing manager by day and board game enthusiast by night.

I was born in England and currently live in Jersey, Channel Islands with by beautiful (and very tolerant) fiance.

I look forward to meeting you on the battlefield.

Welcome Chris!
And thanks for the info about Jersey.. As a Yank I practically knew nothing about that part of history.

Hi everybody,

I am Erik. I live in Belgium and used to be a regular wargamer when I was younger but kids, work and a wife came along to shorten my military carreer Laughing Very Happy
But now the kids are getting at that age where I can play more complex games with them and what happens...they lead me into the world of online gaming. Rolling Eyes Shocked
Wished I had discovered it earlier Confused

Greetz,
Erik

Hi Erik,

What a coincidence ...
My name is also Erik and I also live in Belgium.
Maybe we can learn to know eachother a little better on the Dutch-speaking forum and "wie weet" we can play live (if we don't live too far apart).

Maybe you are interested in the Belgian M'44 Club ...

Just joined. Enjoying it so far. Been board gaming since the late '70s, and computer gaming since the early '90s. This reminds me very much of the old Avalon Hill game UpFront. That one was mid-late '80s. I've been looking for a game like this one!

Glad to "meet" you Joe. I hope to see you on the battlefield soon. If you have any Memoir '44 questions, feel free to PM me here.

Also, there are a number of players gaming in some Memoir '44 groups:

BGG League - soon to start Season 12

Team Tourney League which has already played one Med, East and Pacific rounds and just started a West front round.

My own Vassal Ladder group which just started Rd 45.

A regular Vassal Team OL group.

At some point in time you may wish to check these out. These groups have some of the best and brighest Memoir 44 players anywhere and overall a great bunch of people. They have done a lot to help get new players up and running.

Hi I'm Ryan from Cape Town, South Africa. Used to be an avid wargamer until kids, work, stress etc. Bought the game about a month ago to introduce my 10 year old to wargaming. I have become an online addict and hit the board-game with my son every weekend.

Really enjoying the friendliness and meeting people.

Hello to my fellow Africans

Hello Everybody,

I first bought M44 at Gencon in 2004, but very few boardgamers around, so I was delighted when the Online version came out.
I played some in 2011, but got very busy and did not have enough time for gaming! Terrible! Anyway, in past few months got back to M44 and really enjoying it, meeting new friends and players from all over the world. Only recently heard of the "Belgium Open", so don't think I will make it this year, but will plan on 2015.

My Dad was in 29th Div at Omaha Beach, he was my Hero + a great dad, he died in 1995-but my memories of him are good. He never talked about the war much, that's the way it was with the old vets.

For most part, my gaming experience with M44 has been excellent and have made some good friends.
Occasionally, I come across a player that challenges me with rematch included, but then after winning with the higher % rate for his side, will quit. Don't know what to do about that.

Also, heard there is a way to make a spreadsheet of your service record, I am not to tech savy, so any input on how to do that ,I would appreciate it.

Thanks, Stephen

P.S.

How do you get all your achievements posted to a message?

I'm a stay-at-home mom with one son. We've been playing the M44 board game since 2011 as alternative to Risk, which requires 3+ players. The online version has greatly improved our play and increased our enjoyment of the game. Sometimes I'm playing unaccompanied, sometimes my son joins me to form a team, though he has his own account.

I come from a military family: I was born at Pensacola NAS hospital. Father = Marine major, mom = Navy brat, grandmother = W.A.V.E, grandfather = Navy Chief Petty Officer, uncle = Army, brother = Marine, plus great-grandmother worked at the Pentagon. When I accepted a job as an engineer with the USAF, it was like coming home. My grandparents were so proud, service branch rivalries be damned!

I'm not online as often as I'd like; lunchtime and after putting my kid to bed are my best availabilities. Although games can be brief, I want to have good etiquette and plan on time for a rematch. Most of all, I love to chat with players, which definitely makes for longer games. As you can imagine, the M44 crowd is in my wheelhouse, as the mom-world is not replete with engineers who like wargames!

Howdy all,

I'm Ed Wetterman and just recently purchased the game. I was jonesing for a good WWII game, as I haven't played any board or minis games in a few years. What a great purchase! I love this game. In RL I'm a US History teacher in Texas and I am a founding member of the game company 12 to Midnight. I currently work with Pinnacle Entertainment and my most recent books are about a college in deep East Texas filled with danger and supernatural stuff (think Buffy goes to College). It's called East Texas University. After so much writing for rpgs, it is a welcome relief to throw some dice and go to war!
