Thanks for the rules!
The game both looks and sounds interesting.
Hope you guys have had copies ready in time to give the Spiel des Jahres jury
as you might have another winner on your hand!
(and I have already placed my faith on you in the Spielbox toto

Thanks for the review on your first games, GreatDane! I had no opportunity to play Cleopatra till now. Hope we can gather some people next weekend! I really like the rules und the components and I'm looking forward to play it!

For some reason, I had difficulty looking at the rules also. Tried opening and downloading on two computers and the file was corrupted each time. Had to wait until work to print them out (but in color at least!) and read the rules on the way home.
The game seems pretty straight-forward on one reading of the rules. Looks like it will be a fun "visual" game as you construct he palace. The only fear I have is that it does not seem to have a lot of re-playabilty. Of course you have the randomness of cards and different priorities but it seems this would be a game I would bring out for new people only to introduce them to new types of games. But hopefully, I am wrong!

Obviously the game will progress in the same way duing most games, but as the game ends when 5 of the 6 types of building materials run out it can develop slightly different from game to game. And as usual will the way the cards appear make a huge difference: You can have players who will never see a piece of wood and another who is getting more corrupt cards that he really wants.
But I agree that it is probably a game which we won't play much. I will put in the same league as Mystery at the Abbey and Shadows over Camelot: I love both games, but I wouldn't want to play them on a regular basis.
