I just checked the ranks page. Below is the current breakdown of ranks Colonel - 2 Lt Colonel - 49 Major - 300 Captain - 260 1st Lt - 1,213 2nd Lt - 2,700 Cadets - 15,860 There you have it. I probably wouldn't have tried it if they hadn't mentioned 20-30 minute game completion times. I'm glad I did though because the first two hex (sorta) board games I've tried have been winners. This one and Settlers of Catan.

The current rank breakdown is below: Colonel: 4 Lt Colonel: 52 Major: 322 Captain: 270 1st Lt: 1309 2nd Lt: 2840 Cadet: 16,670 Interestingly, the Majors have more numbers than Captains. That is because of the 'long slog' from Major to Lt Colonel. I like the fact that its more difficult to move up the ladder. Simple answer is no in the "promotion thread" (see the link), i have listed all of the things that i think might contribute to the promotion. http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?th=22532&start=0 But as to what is the magic last item most people require, i'm not sure about. I suspect that it might be losing to a cadet who gains promotion by your defeat. it is quite normal there are more majors than captains: not only is the road to lieutennant colonel very long, it is also hard to become captain. Major on the other hand is rather easy. It just takes some time, but is not all that hard. [Beschwerde über Forumsbeitrag? Hier dem Moderator melden]

I just hit Captain yesterday and I'm loving this game, I wish I had found it earlier. After Ticket to Ride, I've been a Days of Wonder fan ever since. I just wish I could get my wife to try something other than Ticket, but she's scared of rules and small print.

My only tiny complaint about the game is I wish it was browser based like Ticket instead of an install. I could get in even more games at work, but alas I don't have administrator rights to install anything.

AFAIK there is only 1 > 2000.

I'm at 182 games, I cant even imagine how long it will take to get to 2000.

Also, on the records page at Days of Wonder, why does it show me as having 182 battles on my id card but my spreadsheet log of 2011 only shows 92 battles. I started in June 2011, so this spreadsheet represents all my battles.

Any battles that you fought in the last 15 days will actually be on that particular spreadsheet, You will need to combine the two spreadsheets to have ALL your battles.

I think its important to keep adding new maps to keep things interesting. This will keep players in the fold. Also, a working editor is key also. As of right now, there are tons of maps by players that can't be added due to significant editor limitations. I also believe some sort of daily online tourney run by the DoW server would be a bonus as well. Hopefully, in the not too distant future, the Terrain and Winter Wars maps could be added. Then down the road, I'd love to see the Breakout scenarios. They would fit if you put the card hands on the left and right side of the screen and allowed the board to fill the entire middle. it is summer for the people of DOW too. During summer season, alot of employees take a few weeks of. They have been working hard all year, so they have earned it. I find it interesting as well to notice that only 959 players are listed in the Established Players Ranking, which is barely more than the sum of ranks captain and higher, plus 10% of firsts. I understand it's just 20 more wins from Captain to Major. Once you bought the GIs, it shouldn't be too hard.

Also, my last winning game with the free credits should have made me Captain, but it says you get it after the next battle (win or lose). Once I paid, that didn't happen either - it was at or after 24 battles. So the free trial people don't usually end at Captain.

I'd recommend making Major harder, like winning all the Western as either Axis or Allies, either player's choice or both (I haven't done it yet). That would be a good followup to Captain and a good prelude to Lt. Colonel.

I would like to note that Captain have to get 20 victories to Major and Majors need 80 victories across the theatres of operation, so the numbers are slightly skewed. Also this seems to be happening with the Colonels/Lt Cols now, as many push on from half colonel and only a few majors replace the new colonels. Hope that is clear, but it basically means Colonels and Majors will have the majority of the numbers compared to Captains and Lt Colonels as those 2 ranks are moved through quicker for many reasons. The count would be from the tabs on the Officer Career webpage. Each page of each tab has 10 entries, so to count 10 per page except the final page which has 1 - 10 entries. So if a rank, say Colonel has 2 pages with 8 entries on the last page then there are 18 = (2-1)10 + 8 Colonels. The formula is count = (num pages -1) 10 + num entries on last page.
