Advanced Historian	Mon, 19 September 2011 00:30

Just played (and won) at Arracourt and was awarded the Advanced Historian medal. As far as I know I have missed playing only one scenario on its anniversary. It was speculated that this award may be given for playing the original 16 scenarios on their anniversay. I will have to check to see if I have done this - duh the award says that I have done this. Operation Lüttich (Counter-attack on Mortain) 1944-08-07 to 1944-08-11 10. Toulon 1942-12-01 11. Liberation of Paris 1944-08-24 12. Montélimar 1944-08-25 13. Arnhem Bridge 1944-09-17 to 1944-09-19 14. Arracourt 1944-09-19 15. St. Vith 1944-12-20 to 1944-12-22 16. You may be able to play Arnhem today as my "Officer Career" spreadsheet lists Arnhem starting September 17 and finishing September 19. Be in quick or wait 12 months.

In fact looking at the Historian Medal one can see that it is still being awarded for Arnhem today.

Yes, but I missed Mont Mouchet on June 10. However, I've played every other scenario that's been available on its historical date so far. There must be a programming bug. Geoff, I have also missed Mont Mouchet on its original date, the only one I have missed. Dang it I don't want to give the medal back. Can anyone remember what were the first 16 scenarios in the original M44 Beta? Looking at my "Officer Career" spreadsheet Mont Mochet would appear to be one of the original scenarios, one of the 16. The list posted above is the correct list for the original 16 scenarios. I'm still not sure why I was awarded it. I went back to check my career record and I definitely did not play Mont Mouchet on it's historical date. I've played 15 out of 16 original scenarios (as listed above) on their anniversary. I've also played 12 others on their anniversary that were released later. As stated above, Mont Mouchet is the only one I've missed. I sent a PM to Yann about it. My guess is that it became activated today, since it was the first day that you could get it. Maybe it only checks to make sure you've met the requirements after playing a battle on it' anniversary. But if you only need 16 battles on their anniversary and they don't have to be the originals, it seems unusual that only myself and one other player earned it. I thought that there would be more players over the 16 battle threshold by now... I sent a message to DoW letting them know, so they could investigate. I suppose the other possibility is that the requirements were changed to play 27 scenarios on their historical date. Or 60% of the available scenarios on their date (27/45 at this point). In which case, they just overlooked changing the descriptive text. I would imagine that today is the first opportunity to hit the 60% plateau. The more I think about this, my theory about 60% seems to make sense. Now you have missed a scenario besides Mont Mouchet, but also have 27 anniversary battles.

Still weird that the description text wasn't changed though.

But I always thought that it would be impossible to make us play every one as new ones were continuously being added. Also, as the number of battles expands, it is more difficult for newcomers to know what the 'original 16' would mean.

And it has to be that 27 is the magical number at the moment. We'll find out in a month, when the next anniversaries are. Assuming that new battles aren't released of course. Smile

So far 20 such events, and 2 more when I was able to win only one of the sides. Missed 3 July battles due to vacation (damn GPRS networks!). Hope to catch you by November, guys! Congratulations! I signed up in August. If it's true that you need 15 of these particular 16 then it will be until the end of July before I get Advanced Historian (if I don't quit by then). Fortunately I haven't yet missed any of these (knock on wood for St. Vith) so I have 7/16 (+3 N/A). Old Man must be something like you played a game 3 years after your first game. Yep. It's here now. St Vith was the missing one. In the meantime I played 31 scenarion on their anniversaary (winning both sides on 29 of them and only one side on Guam and Tunisia - midnight came too soon), just in case. So far only 4 of us. Congratulations Oberst fjetzt! Unless I made a mistake looking through your history, it appears that fjetzt has also only played 15 out of 16 base game scenarios on their anniversary. I did not see a record of Operation Cobra on July 25-26. So the requirements seem to remain "Play 15 out of 16" instead of "Play all 16 scenarios on their anniversary." (could have been programmed like that if it was programmed when only 16 existed) But that is not the case ... reached that. So the informed guess of 15 of the original 16 could be right. That means I have to wait for june ... I joined on June 14th ... and aparently June 6th would have been better ... And by wait, I mean that literally ... If I am right, there are none of the original 16 between now and June 6th ... Of the original 16, I'm only missing the 6 on June 6th and one on June 10th ... so if you guys are right, I'll get it on June 6th, if I manage to play 6 games on that day ... To be an advanced historian takes study, time, hard work and a little bit of luck (some days you just can't play.) Just like in real life, you don't get to be a historian overnight. As far as most of us lives in different time zones, what is the main time zone that is used to calculate when the game was played? i.e.: Im in GMT+1 ... And if I play some scenarion on June 6th lets say 5am, in the US is still only June 5th. Therefore, if the server (or whatever) runs in the US, it is taking US time and not considering me playing this scenario on that particular day. Any idea or opinions? [Beschwerde über Forumsbeitrag?
