Dear Memoir 44 fans!

I read your comments on the forum, and i like to response.
First of all, i agree with most of your opinions. Everybody can win on RBF. No matter which side you are playing at. And that is the beauty of it! This map is so complex, that every player can find his/her way to victory!

How to use Recon card as axis? - I agree with the players, that it depends on the situation and on your style how to use these cards. There is no "universal clue" to win, because there are hundreds of good moves, and your success is depending on how you mix them! I have different strategy for offensive play, and other for defensive play. I enjoy the most, when i control the game! I had several battles, where i could spare and save (did not playing during the whole game) powerful cards like: Barrage or Air power. That is very hard! If you are good enough, try to
play like that! Most of the players try to use his/her best cards in every turn, because you never know: Will you have the chance later to play this card? Not always! But turning the game upside down like that is only recommended for hardcore M44 players. Smile

I know, that my statistical curiosity is strange for most of the players. It was a very long and tiring way to get here. It took me several months. To tell the truth, sometimes i find it boring too. Not all the way, but occasionally. I started an exciting experiment, i collected data from the RBF battles, but i had to play a lot of games to reach new dice roll levels. My Friend Ppodahu helped me a lot with sending his stats.

I finally arrived to the next big statistic milestone of my M44 online experiment. We just passed 60000 dice rolls on the RBF after 448 battles.

You may say that i became an addict of RBF, which is not very far away from the truth. I am not playing very often online, because i dont have too much freetime. I decided to play mostly on RBF map if i play online, to collect data for my experiment. Moreover, after a few games on RBF, i realized that i like this map. It has a lot of strategical opportunities, and i believe that the players has more chance to beat luck on RBF than any other M44 scenarios.

I was happy to win battles with both sides. My rate of success is about 80% on RBF (combined both sides). It was a very hard and long way to get the first place on the ELO ranklist. To reach the 2000 level was a very hard challenge. And after losing a few battles, I lost 100 points, and i had to win 10-12 games in a row without a loss, to climb back. You need to be tough, to focus during these games. After i reached the 2000 point-level, i tried to make new records. My first record was 2018. I just broke this record with 2031 and yesterday i reached 2039. This is very challenging for me to climb up on this point marker. I am also very curious who will be the next who will reach 2000 points. Mouchotte 72 is very close now. Ppodahu reached once, but (just like me) he has to start over, and climb back. This is the hardest challenge. Good luck for both of you!

Sometimes i played other maps too, because i need a few badges, for example Air Ace and lucky roll badges. I am not very succesful with these badges, i had several opportunities to get some of them, but luck was not on my side. Maybe later...
I am also playing with the boardgame version (with expansions) with friends. I just bought the Air pack expansion for M44. I try to understand the rules. It is interesting. I agree with Airstrike, and i hope that Daysofwonder will focus on developing the online game by implementing the expansions. We would like to play on other scenarios too, and try every expansion of the board game in the online version too.

Now, after i reached this "60 thousand dice rolls" milestone, i will take a longer break to spend more time with my family, and later i will focus on the promotion to general. I will play other maps more often. Smile

I have an interesting question for you: Do you know that those dice rolls, when the opponent steps on a mine field are added to your statistics at the end of the game or not? I thought they are, but i am not sure. I played a game on RBF, and i killed at least 6 enemy armor units and i get 2 medals for them, but at the end, in my statistics there were only 5 killed armors. How is it possible? Is it a bug? I don't think DoW made a mistake, because is not a very hard job to add simple numbers. I killed an armor unit on a minefield, and i was thinking about it, that
these "minefield dice rolls" may not be added to the stats. What do you think?

And here are the latest numbers:

I share a link with you:

Here you can find some of my screenshots what i made during playing with M44. I chosed these pictures because i found them very interesting. The name of the files are helping you, what is on the pictures.

There was a time during the beta testing, when hardcore memoir fans could get 11 or 12 medals on the Red Barricade Factory scenario. I think this is prohibited nowadays, but i saw that other players are able to do that. I don't understand how they did it, because i tried several times, and i got only 10 medals. I get medals for the town hexes, but they were not added to final medal score. If you have an answer please share with me. Thanks!

I have a few pictures with my high scores. There was a time, when i had 141 points advantage. Once and never again Smile
Bad luck screenshots from both sides, interesting final dice roll statistics and cards in hand in critical situations Smile

If you have question, feel free to ask me!

Have fun!

hi Hamon, your topic is really interresting ( the dice ratio is quiet the same after hundreds of battles !!! )

but according "statistics" i think it happen too often that "medic" or "heroic actions" lead to NO unit activation !!!!

even with 5 or 6 dices !!!!

the RBF and all other M44 scenari key to victory is to shoot more than the opponent !!!
what you do so well as german !!!

but i think M44 rules should be modified !!!
i mean "airstrike card" 1 dice for german and 2 for allies ( it's logical in 1944 when allies get the air superiority !!!
but this card should be modified according the historical context !!!
so which nation get "air superiority" at the momment of the battle
and could be axis 1/1 allies or 2/1 or 2/2 or 1/2
and when blitz rules are effective it should be axis 2/1 or 1/1 !!!
i'd like also if the "air rules" could be added online
it's so fun to manage your plane on the battle field !!!

hope to play RBF with you another time
enjoy M44
bye bye

Dear Memoir 44 fans!

I promised, that i will refresh my statistics. Thanks for Airstrike to remind me. Smile
First of all, i would like to answer him:

I agree with you, that Medics or The finest Hour dice rolls are very various, and the players feel disappointed after

rolling "nothing useful" with 4, 5 or 6 dice rolls!

If we can accept the fact, that M44 dice roll machine works correctly (long therm), we can say, that shooting (rolling)

more can be an advantage against our opponents. If we protect our units more (avoiding flag can be a hit, or moving

them to save positions: town, hill, etc) and we don't let our enemy to shoot our units with maximum dice.
I think focusing on both statements can be the efficient way.

I think a lot of M44 fans can agree with you. We all miss Air pack online! I hope DOW will implement it to M44 online

soon to avoid loosing fans who bored this game.

thank you very much hamon for your response and topic Smile
in the kill ratio it's not shown ( impossible i supose ) the number of flags used by you ( and opponents ) to have a kill , that's also a m44 skill to have room to flee when necessary or even have no room when attacking ( avoiding fleeing when using infiltartion , armor assault ect ... )
indeed we saw that roll dices are quiet the same for everyone on really long period !!
i think also that luck is turning ( i get for the time being , great cards and nice dice roll ,i'm sure 1 day it will be the opposite for 3 to 5 games in a row !!! )
it happen to me several times after a long winning period !!!

hope for air rules included Smile

Hello M44 fans!

Rolled Flags, which cause hit (when unit can not retreat) would be also an interesting detail for hardcore players like us.
Unfortunately the battle summary is not public for the players.
You cannot download an xls with it. (you can download only personal battles) I collect data manually from the battle summary screen. It is not all the data what we could use. On this screen you can't see the statistics of Medics, The finest hour. These rolled dice are not shown, just like the minefield dice too.

I know, that my (or any) statistics will not be perfect, because you can not count the critical situations. For example you can't kill a single infantry unit in the bottom row with a barrage. I tried to kill with a barrage, and rolled only stars and tank. Smile

I you have bad luck in a situation, it could cause trouble for you. An injured, but survivor unit can make a medal, by killing an enemy unit next round. You can loose a game with a situation like that, and you may not see in the summary stat, that your dice roll % (hit rate) was below average. It is too complicated to show it perfectly in the stats.

I really don't understand why DOW make a secret about a facts, how many times were a battle played online? It would be helpful for players, to know, which maps are the most popular.
You can see the win rate chances before choosing a battle, but you can not see, how many times were played.

I try to show for players that DOW's dice roll machine works correctly. 100.000 dice roll is a huge number to prove this fact.
Lot of players think that only luck (dice and cards) decide the outcome of a battle. I disagree. The skill of a player (knowledge of M44, rules, maps, strategy) is very important too.
Unfortunately there are only a few maps (scenarios) where you have the time to beat the luck factor. RBF gives you the best chance for that. That's why we like this map. Smile
Hard to be patient when your dice rolls are below average, and most of the scenarios are too short to change the battle.
Which other maps would you recommend to beat luck?

Anybody knows how can we reach 11 or 12 points in a game? I got the medals (visually shown on the screen) but not added to the final score.

Bye!

Hi Hammon,

Lots of nice Expert scenarios let you the time to "beat the luck". I have remarked than the players are designing most of time some maps with more medals than Dow maps. So, the games are longer and let the opportunity to reverse the initial tender.

For instance, I like a lot play the scenarios designed by Looney Llama : tactical, intense, complex, in a word a pure pleasure ! Looney is just a name among lots of very good designers. (thanks to all of them for this impressive work).

I'm not myself a fan of RBF map as I find the Russian side often boring to play. This feeling has increased with the time and the discovery of others (SFTF) "long time" map very well designed and balanced.

Hoping to meet you soon on a SFTF map ... otherwise, on RBF map Laughing Rolling Eyes
