Where can I download the game? Sun, 08 January 2012 15:26
I just bought and registered Ticket to Ride Europe and I would like to play it online. Where can I find the download for the game? The graphics in the Java-app isn't that great.

Try here: http://www.daysofwonder.com/online/en#ttol

You can also get a great version of the game on the iPad and the iPhone/iPod Touch if you have those devices.

Enjoy! Cool

Thank you, I found it. Another question though, do I have to buy the online version aswell to be able to play? I thought I would be able to play online when I bought the board game, but it seems I can only play 4 games. Sad

You do indeed have to buy the Online game. It's a different product and a lot of time and effort went into developing it! Smile

Think of it like Halo...if I bought the video game, I wouldn't expect to get to read the books for free simply because I own one aspect of the game. This is the same kind of thing. Cool

That may be, but the box for the game (TtR U.S.) brags about an "online access code" being included, and it's blatant false advertising to suggest that the access code has any value. The access code allows me to "register" the box version -- what, in case it breaks down under the warranty period? -- and also puts me on a spam list unless I opt out. I could pay to play online just as easily without the "access code." I'm very disappointed that DoW would stoop to such a deceptive gimmick in their packaging.

As a new customer you may not know any of the background information on this subject, so let me explain a little bit... Smile

A long time ago, there was a computer version of Ticket to Ride that you could play if you had the code from (I believe) two Days of Wonder games. The game was pretty simple with basic graphics and only a few maps.

A few years later they improved the graphics, added maps, and overall improved the game. They provided this new version for a single purchase of $9.99 and the code changed a bit to being a discount. Now they have released lots of different versions of Ticket to Ride (TTR iPad, TTR Pocket, TTR Steam, TTR App Store, TTR download from the Days of Wonder site) and the code that you get from the big box gives you a discount. If you plug the online code into your account, you will get a 10% discount for any product on their web site. You can find more details about their codes and promotions on the web site.

I don't think Days of Wonder is trying for a "deceptive gimmick in their packaging", but they can't change the offers written in rule books that were printed long before the more recent improvements! This isn't an issue of trying to trick you, it's an issue of an evolving game community and improving digital support for a printed game...the one simply can't keep up with the other! Razz

I hope that makes sense. In my experience with Days of Wonder, I haven't known them to be sly or tricky with any of their offers or promotions and I don't think this is an exception.

You used to have like a free month for the online version, and a year would cost like 12 dollars, thankfully now it only costs $10 to play forever! Very Happy
