Tried the steam version today after DoW kindly sent me a free activation.
Im afraid I dont really like it.
Seems to play a bit slower and I could not see the other players cards at the end of the game.
Also the graphic at the end is nice. Fun to watch twice. How do I shut it off?
Perhaps the extra graphics are great for folks that only play a few times a week. I often play 20 or so a week, I prefer quick play.
Kind of a bummer to have to pick a new name but Ok I guess, most of the rest of the things I disliked were probably just not seeing things where I am used to them.
After thousands of games on the web version (I think I was a beta tester, I know it used to crash a lot!) just a couple on steam does not compare.
I dont play many online games (well just one TT2R!)
What do you folks think?

At the end of the game you can watch the other players tickets by clicking on the card button next to their name/icon.
You can skip the end animation by clicking on the double arrow button on the top-right part of the victory screen.
I don't think it plays slower than the web version. Can you explain what you thought is slower? Were you playing online or solo?
And finally, you don't need to pick a new name, it should ask you about your existing dow account.

I used to be "Photios" but now steam renamed me to "xrwho" from the e-mail I provided. Didn't ask! And I don't know how I could change the name!

Thank you for the answers. I have comments in the text. sorry I dont know how to do the fancy stuff.
>At the end of the game you can watch the other players tickets by clicking on the card button next to their name/icon.<
Thanks.
>You can skip the end animation by clicking on the double arrow button on the top-right part of the victory screen.<
Thanks, sorry if it seems rude I like to watch animations once or twice then Im done. Annoys my wife who I occasionally play computer games with.
>I don't think it plays slower than the web version. Can you explain what you thought is slower? Were you playing online or solo?<
I have not played solo in many years. Maybe I should see if the bots are more fun now. Just seemed slower, I think it was the time the card moving animations took, I did not have a stop watch though so that my just be me. I play on a macbook pro and the DOW site seems fast (most of the time).
>And finally, you don't need to pick a new name, it should ask you about your existing dow account.<
Oh well I think Im stuck now, I must have missed it asking about a dow account (I was hoping it would but I did not see it). I also have not found a way to change my name. When I tried to make the name the same as my DOW account it said it was already taken.
Thank you for taking the time to answer me sir, Ill try it a few more times to help check things out but maybe Im old, I like the one on the site better. I would prefer a default to skip the animations. No offense they do look pretty but I just enjoy playing, not so much watching.

When you create your steam ID and activate Ticket to Ride it will create a DOW ID with the same name. If your steam ID is the same as your old DOW ID it will append a 1 to the end and create a new ID. For example, if your steam ID is TestID and your old DOW ID is TestID, steam will create TestID1 for your new DOW ID since TestID already exists. So to use your old ID in steam you have to merge your new ID with your old one.
This thread tells how to do it:
