New SFTF Mediterranean Theater tournament

Hi everyone,
I would like to host another SFTF tournament for anyone interested. The format will be different than my previous one.
The following parameters will apply:
1. All scenarios will be from the Med. Theater. I have 15 to choose from at this point. They will involve battles from North Africa, Sicily, and Italy from 1941 to 1944. These are my personal scenarios, not official ones.
2. There will be two teams, each representing either the Axis or Allies. I would like to keep each team with 4 to 6 members.
3. Each side will have 1 major General( Rommel vs. Montgomery). I will choose each team's roster and their major general. I will not be one of the major generals.
4. Each battle in the sequence(5-10 battles) will be played by all players. The major General decides which opponent one of his other generals plays( all players must play all the other players on the other side at least once). 1 point will be awarded for each victory. 2 points if you defeat the major general! 1 point will also be awarded at the end of each completed battle for majority units killed. NOTE: If you are an Axis or Allied general you only play that side throughout the tournament. You can switch and play the other side for fun when you are done with your battle.

I don't get the Major General's role?
Do they choose 1 opponent for 1 of their own general's per round?
What if they choose conflictingly?
5 to 10 scenarios is fine with me, tending toward 10 would be my preference.

I'm interested (but not as Major General, I'm just a Colonel ), but would like to know the period during which the tournament will be placed. I will travel 2 weeks end of September and don't want to block the tournament.

Thanks guys for joining. To answer your questions, no you do not have to be a major general online to be considered as the leader of your group. However, you will have to have some experience to be considered. Also, the Axis picks one round who their opponents will be and the next round the Allies. Back and forth until the end.
Just a thought, if you all agree, on each round, each team could designate the major general whose scenario is worth 2 points. Everybody on each team gets that designation at least once. (I'm kind of leaning towards this idea)
Artimnon, this is a very laid back tournament. It may take us a long time to complete if we get a lot of participants(no more than 10). Who cares! Don't worry about being gone for a while. We're here to have fun. Please join.

P.S. For those considering, but are not sure how good the scenarios will be, you can ask Clorofila, Jeronimon and Sam1812 their opinion. I think they were very satisfied with the quality of the scenarios in our previous tournament.
P.S.S. If you haven't faced Jeronimon or Clorofila online, they are GREAT players and even better gentleman. I couldn't ask for a better start to this tournament.

Thanks everyone for signing up. As of now, we have 8 participants(including me). I will take 2 or 4 more through this weekend. Team rosters will be set Sunday.
Also, I would like to explain the duties of the team leader. He is responsible for setting up the opponents that his team will face every other week. The other leader does it the following week. I will post the battle before he has to make his decisions. This will enable him to take into account the likelehood of victory, and set his lineup accordingly. My scenarios are set as fair as possible but there is an advantage to one side or the other. Some of these scenarios have been played before and I will post percentages when available. He will also have to determine who will be playing for 2 points. The other team leader must send him who will be his 2 point general before the lineups are set. The team leader who is making the lineups that week can set both 2 point generals against each other if desired. Also, every player on each team must be the 2 point general. The number of times will be determined once I know the number of players per team and the number of scenarios we will play.

If you want to have fun while playing fine players on great battlegrounds do join us.
Although I have to admit the Major General part might give us a headache.
I hope we will revisit some of the Mediterranean scenarios we played last time, but if we don't, I am sure the new ones will be equally as good.
For the "new bees" the scenarios last time were all extremely enjoyable to play and some were tactically very challenging.
Yes, we gave some advice here and there for tweaks and now and then you would swear a little at some stuff Looney thought up. But, watching replays of other contenders, most of the time that stuff would be taken advantage of by one of the others. So it can also be a learning experience. 
I can only echo Clorofila: I strongly recommend every player to participate

I cannot say myself if I am a great player or a gentleman. But I can tell you I strive to be both.

It's always a treat to find interesting, new scenarios. Some of Eric's scenarios in the first SFTF tournament were among the most interesting ones I've played.
I would have signed up for this tournament in a heartbeat, but my schedule in the next month doesn't permit it.

OK Jim! Great to have you playing. Hope you are recovering nicely. The tournament should take your mind of any discomfort.
Anyway, we now have 10 players. I will leave it open through Saturday for 2 more. Look on this site Sunday for team rosters and whether you represent the Axis or Allies. Also, there will be 10 scenarios, from 1941 to 1944. North Africa, Sicily, and Italy will be the battlegrounds. The first scenario will be online this Sunday.

This sounds interesting. I will be unavailable one week in September (anniversary trip) , but would be happy to substitute on an as needed basis on other weeks. If that is not an option, will hope to be able to play the next time around!

OK gentlemen,
Let the games begin.
Before we start let me explain how I came up with the teams. For the two team leaders, I picked the two players who have played the most games. I did not consider rankings at all. Someone who has played a lot of games would be a very experienced player. It so happens that all of the players have played hundreds of games. This will be a very competitive tournament. I then divided the rest of the players for each team by the number of games they played. I tried to keep it as even as possible.
Also, as I said, we will play 10 scenarios. I have 13 written and if you guys are enjoying them we could play more. Anyway, the scenarios are all historical and will be in chronological order. I tried to give the side who really won the battle an edge. Since we are only counting one battle, there may be some that one side wins all 5. Don't let that discourage you, there will be some that the other side could win all 5. Many of the scenarios have already been played online. When they are posted, you will see that the odds are very even.

The first scenario is The Battle of Mekili, Rommel's First Offensive. In this smashing Axis victory three British generals were captured. (I would have loved to try to incorporate that fact into this battle. Alas, maybe in a future update.) So, Jeronimon must decide who on his side will play the 2 point game. Then Droopy007 picks the opponents. Therefore, there are 6 points available each round.

P.S. When online with your opponent don't forget to offer to play the other side when done.

Ok team, huddle up, let's give those kraut's a run for their money.
For the first round our Champion, Major General two point player will be, drumroll please:
Artimon. (Winner of tournaments, crusher of enemies and destroyer of Axis Forces.)
One question: I see david5272 on my team, but do not see him enrolling in the thread. And I am missing Lucky91 who did enroll. Is there a mix up do some players have double/secret identities or is this a clever ploy by the germans to divide and conquer us?
Could you shed some light on this, Eric?

Team leader then. To be sure, my duty is only to name the fighter of the 2 points game, either after or before the allies leader ? Is there something more to do ?
Anyway, I'll try to choose right  .
So the question here is who wants to battle Artimon, the recent champion of the ww44#5... I guess each one of us would like that !

I need to play all 5 of the Allied opponents at this battle?
Potentially I would score 5 points, if I win all 5 games?
If I defeat the Major General (Jeronimon?) I get an extra point?
There was something about an extra point for figures?
I'm not clear if this last point was referring to a combined score, for the whole team?

Interesting questions !
I have some too :
You said there are 6 points available for each battle. As I understand it, it means that there's 2 points for the winner of the "champion" match, then 1 point for each winner of each couple that fight the very same battle. Then we move to the next battle as soon as every player on each team has had a duel on the map we were playing...
So here, Artimon vs Trentdep, then 2 other (name by the team leader ?), on the same map, but for one point, and so on until we all played the map... Then we begin the next map ?
Am I clear  ? And if yes, am I right ?

Droopy007 has it right.
He names each of his commanders to play one match against an Allied opponent. and also names one of his commanders to play the game that will be worth 2 points. Since Artimon is our 2 point commander this round, he can place his 2 point commander against him or someone else. There are only 5 games each round before we move on to the next scenario. Since one battle is worth 2 points that makes each round worht a maximum of 6 points. You do not play every opponent on the other side each round. Only one.
So far, Artimon is playing Trentdep. Droopy007, you need to name the other 4 battles and which of your commanders is playing the 2 point game.
Also, every commander must play two scenarios that would be worth 2 points. I'll keep track as we go along.
I hope this is OK as I wanted to try a tournament that is a little different than the standard ones.

Eric, I thought that the battle worth 2 points was already defined: Artimon vs. trentdep, so Droopy007 would only have to define the other 4 battles for round#1. What am I missing? Smile

I thought too that the battle was defined. I think the point is that I do not have to choose "my champion" to battle the other side "champion"... I can choose anyone in the team, and name a champion on another of the 5 battles.
For exemple, if I put it like this, is it good for you LooneyLlama? :
1. Artimon (2pt allies general for this battle) vs Trentdep (1pt commander)
2.Clorofila (2pt axis general for this battle) vs Jeronimon choice (1pt commander)
3.Jaykay2010 vs Jeronimon choice
4.Sdnative vs Jeronimon choice
5.Droopy007 vs Jeronimon choice
With 3,4,5 match with all victory worth 1pt... right ?
If it's ok, that I have it right, Jeronimon, I let you the joy to make your choices .
For my team mates : I feel like it is better if our champion doesn't fight the other champion. The reason is, it gives two guys in the team an extra motivation, instead of only one. One to give us 2 points, another to prevent them of having the 2 pts. Which gives a little more fun, IMHO. What do you think ?

I admit I don't quite understand what Eric has in mind, but if your interpretation is correct, than there would be 7 points at stake each round, Droopy007, not 6 as Eric mentioned before.
