Droopy007 has it partially right. It is his choice this round to decide if his 2 point commander faces the Allied 2 point one. He also has to decide on all the other matchups, not Jeronimon. He gets his chance next round. Next round he lets Jeronimon know who is fighting for two points before Jeronimon decides the matchups. You guys are right, there is potentially 7 points up for grabs but the most any one team can earn is 6.
Droopy could do this;
Artimon(2 pts.) vs. trentdep
Jeronimon vs. Clorofila(2pts.)
Van Voort vs. sdnative
Lucky91 vs. Jaykay2010
LooneyLlama vs. Droopy007
Again, the first round matchups are decided by Droopy. Jeronimon only decides who his 2 pt. player is before Droopy makes the matchups. Next round Droopy lets Jeronimon know who is playing the 2 pt. game for the Axis and then Jeronimon decides his 2 pt. player and all the matchups. Back and forth like this until all 10 scenarios are played.
I don't know. This may be more confusing than it's worth. No wonder nobody plays tournaments like this. Hopefully you guys don't bail out before we get underway.

Just a few numbers:
- My current skill points: 1586
- Excluding SFTF and Solo games, I only scored 7 victories in the last 20 matches.
- Most importantly: playing as Axis and excluding Solo games, I only scored 10 victories in my last 41 games!
I'm really out of shape. Maybe later?...

Another note about the scenarios. Since only one battle counts please don't be discouraged. Many of the scenarios in my 10 have been played online with nearly 50-50 balance. Some are as high as 67% one way or the other. I did my best to make the games playable with a decent chance to win either side. There will be no one turn victories in my scenarios. Remember, this is a team tournament. Cheer on your compatriots! And let's have fun!

clorofila, It doesn't matter that we're on different sides. It doesn't take away from the fact that you are a good player AND more importantly, a gentleman to play against.
sdnative, don't be so caught up in the scenarios being perfectly balanced. They aren't. As I said before there may be some battles where nobody wins on one side or the other. It's a tournament with an unusual premise over 10 scenarios, not just one. I'm trying to challenge myself to see if I can write scenarios that one person plays only one side or the other and still have fun. We'll see how it turns out. Anyway, here are some of the percentages of the ones I had previously posted and are in the tournament; 43%,50%,44%,53%,59%,46% for the Allies. That's 6 scenarios where anyone can win. There are a couple that are over 60%, especially late 1944. The others are brand new. Hopefully they work out as I have hoped. I honestly think the Axis has an advantage in this first battle. Take care.

So Lucky91, Artimon and van Voort, disregard that last remark of Eric and listen to me carefully: In this scenario the Axis has about 18% chance to win! So relax, play well and bring home those victories.
Van Voort, you can only score one point wit this game, but if you do they will miss out on two.

Well, I wouldn't have minded, but the boss is quite clear : no backing out... So I guess you just have to try your best, or come back to your best shape .
Anyway, I have to agree with LooneyLlama : I also think you're a good player ! Even if your rankings are not very high at the moment, I think I remember you being in the 1st page of online battle and expert battle rankings at the same time not long ago... That's kind of a performance, even if the rankings are not perfect.
In any case, enjoy the battle, and as Jeronimon said : "The main reason to play in this tournament is to battle against other players on interesting scenarios and (defeat and humiliate (lol ! we shall see ) ) have fun! Very Happy". Well said !!!

As promised in the other thread here some remarks about the scenario: I enjoyed it. The terrain makes you think. And the gully's are a pain in the .., especially for the four fig afrika korps armor unit. So put your thinking caps on gentlemen.
We wondered why the three fig armor units had special badges? I joked I had sabotaged the fourth tank before the game. But we both would have done much better with four fig tank units.
The game we played for the tournament we both had the feeling that the dice were more on my side than Jim's. The statistics showed 41% on inf and 33% on tanks for Jim so it wasn't as bad as we felt it.
I did manage to get in kills when needed and the antitankboys on the hill did great work.
Anyway, somebody said the allies had a hard time getting an attack mounted in this scenario, and I think that that is true. But they can lay in waiting for the Axis to come over and defend against them. The Axis has a hard time on their left flank, because if they send out the infantries the tanks will get at them, in the middle there are those brainteasing gully's (great fun) and on the right a more straightforward attack can be mounted. In our first game I managed to thwart his attack and in the my game as the Axis I had a shortage of right flank cards.
In conclusion another great scenario which I have to study further to get tot he bottom of it. Alas we will be moving on to another on before I will have mastered it.
Thanks for the new tournament and your delightful scenarios Eric. We are in for some weeks of good fun!

Hi guys,
A couple of points,
Droopy played a perfect game against me. It wasn't just bad cards and dice. I'll not divulge his strategy but it was masterful. There was only one way to counteract it but I didn't get the cards. And you would need a perfect setup of cards to win.
His mobile artillery worked OK. He used it to great effect. Maybe the arty was moved onto a forest hex where it could not battle? I never had problems with it in all the test runs.
I still think the Germans have a distinct advantage. They don't really need that 4 fig. armor unit to win.
I'm sorry about the Africa Corps badges. They were placed on the three fig. units for looks. I should have removed them after I changed one of the units to 4 figures.

I'm not a huge fan of med maps, mostly because of lack of interesting tactical hexes, such as forests and hedgerows. Also, Desert Rules and the predominance of armor makes the gaming experience a fast-and-furious type of fight, which I don't appreciate.
Considering the above, this is a very reasonable map, fun to play and well balanced, in my opinion. Another good work by Eric. Congratulations!

You may train if you want to, but I myself think that Eric's maps are too cmplicated to master in just a practice game. You need to play more often.

The mobile arty commanded on the Artillery Bombard moved from one hill to an adjacent hill (one hex) and then could not fore.

Thx Eric, you are depicting my play in a most agreable fashion !
I just wanted to precise a point or two. I don't think either that it was only bad luck and cards. I just say that it helped me here. I do liked my strategy. I think, according to my set of cards and the layout of terrain and troops that it was a pretty good one. I liked that I have been able to push it to the end without having to adapt it a lot (which is more than often not possible, cause what your opponent do, the loss you suffer, force you to adapt...).
And that's the result of your lack of, not good cards cause you had some like me, but lack of cards needed where the action was.
IMHO, that's the most frustrating sequence of play in Memoire, when you're being assaulted fiercely, and you just don't have the cards to answer. What do you think ?
I think I played it quite well, but I also know that some of my move were very dangerous. The one where I moved an armor unit next to your artillery, between your 2 armor in order to block the retreat of one was good, as it helped me kill a full armor unit with 6 dices... but it was pure luck that you didn't have any cards to retaliate. I did it thinking that it was worth it, even if I lost the unit right after.
Still, it is very nice of you to qualify my strategy of masterful . I'll keep that in mind !!
About the arty movement without shooting, I do not think that it was a bug. We could check in sugar loaf and half moon... That could be quite long though.
But the problem reminds me of the one there was with BEL and the inf unit that can move or battle, like anti tank... I think that it's been decided in the FAQ that the command card instruction overrule the usual rule for the unit. That's why we can now use BEL normally with an anti tank inf, I mean move, attack, move again.
If we apply that to the mobile artillery, as the command card states that we can either move 3 hex or battle (and no, move and battle), it seems normal to me that on an artillery bombard you're not allowed to move and fire.
Again, what do you think ?

I think you've got it!! The card states move or battle. That would include mobile artillery. All cards overrule the unit rule!
So it isn't a bug after all.
