Playing between iPad & Steam

My brother has T2R through Steam. I have T2R app on my iPad. We want to play a game together.
When I "invite" him using my iPad, he can get the invitation but it asks him for a Password which of course the iPad version does not set. So he cannot join.
When he creates a Private Game setting a password, I cannot see the Private Game on my iPad, so I cannot join even though I know the password.
How do you play between Steam and the iPad app?
