Storage for Tiles and Tokens Sat, 29 December 2012 16:56
I hope everyone has enjoyed the holidays. Hoping someone can help with an idea. Having collected almost the whole system (lacking only the Equipment pack and the campaign bag) I am needing a way to store the terrain tiles and tokens. I have them in plastic containers, but it is taking an increasingly long time to sort through them to get the ones you need. Has anyone come up with a good solution?

Thanks Eric. That looks a lot like what I am currently doing. I guess my question has more to do with categorization. How do you sort them so you don't have to dig through 200 tiles or tokens to find the ones you need?

Hello,

I think most of us do store tiles like Eric does. Talking about categorizing tiles, this is what I've done:

A first main categorization for the different theaters:

- Inland
- Winter
- Pacific
- Desert
- Mixed

A second categorization, using the type of tile. For instance, I do have all the forests, hedgerows, marshes, high grounds, towns, landmarks, etc. in separated compartments, regardless what they do have in the other side. So for instance, I do have in a single compartment:

(INLAND)
8 x HEDGEROW / HILLS
2 x HEDGEROW /C. RIVER
1 x HEDGEROW / RIVER
1 x HEDGEROW / FOREST
8 x MOUNTAIN /RAILRD

That way I do have a specific type of the most used tiles all together, but the reversed side is included in the list, so that I do know what does every tile have printed in both sides.

When talking about tokens & badges, things are a bit harder. About badges, I'm working myself in a new sorting. Let's see if I can come up with something easier.

Check here:

http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/mypage/34328/m44/gallery

I have 3 plastic cases and organize by terrain type taking into consideration both sides of every tile. The boxes have thick cardstock dividers with the tile number on them.

I have a master list which tells me where I can find all types and I number each tile type right on the tile - for example forest / hill would be # 00. So when I look up forest on my list I have tile numbers to go by and the qty of each for that number. When I am putting back the tiles all I need do is look at the tile number and place it back in the right slot.

I have placed the tiles in an ABC order, so my first tiles would be Airfields but of course I also ist the terrian type on the backside.

So for example, say I need 15 of a terrain type. I go to my master list and see that that terrain type are on tiles 33,35,38 and 40. I have 5 of each of those so I would just remove all those tiles from slots 33,35 and 38 which would give me the 15 I need.

I have found this storage system to be very efficent at finding the tiles I need and they are easy to place back in order when I am done.

Thanks to all for the suggestions. I think I will sort them by expansion give the tiles a different color stripe. Similar to what some of you are already doing.

Sirs, its actualy simple: " once you put them in compartimented boxes, its up to you to keep your system 'alive' and orderly ! "

" The best way off finding your tiles is playing regularly our beloved boardgame and you will know by heart ! " Cool
