How to set up a private game?

Hello,
My brother and I live far apart and we were trying to set up a game between the 2 of us with no luck. Can someone explain the process of doing this? I clicked "create game", named it and marked it as "private", however he was not able to see it in the list of open games. What are we doing wrong?

93 views and no one replied...just got on here tonight. Played 3 private games with a relative. We were on the phone with each other getting started..first time!
Know your brothers player number? Make him a buddy. Be in the lobby at the same time. Go to the buddy tab. Touch. A box comes out to the left asking about private game. Etc.
