Switcheroo
5 race tokens

When you go into decline, you may switch around the first 5 race/badge combos in any order.
Keep the races and badges paired up as they were, along with their respective coin(s), if any.

Interesting idea, but why would you do this? I'm guessing because it sounds like it would be fun to you, but I think if I was playing in a game where we did that I would get frustrated because I would never know how much I would need to pay to get the race I want! Razz

But the whole point of the game is to have fun, so if that's fun for you and your group then I would say, "Enjoy!" Cool

The intent is to manipulate the order of the combos in your favor and/or against your opponents favor.

For example, you choose to decline on a turn when the other players still have active races. Then you pull the switcheroo and bring that powerful combo from a higher slot down to the first slot. You get the combo next turn, and save yourself a few tokens.

In addition, you could move the next best combos to the 5th/4th position, making opponents pay little extra if they really want them.

Looking forward to testing it out!

You'll have to let us know how it works when you test it. Would you also be allowed to move the combo that is at the top of the stack, because that would reveal what the next combo is going to be...

Have fun! Very Happy

Including that 6th spot would certainly reveal what we shouldn't see so I stopped it short of that.

I'll post back after testing, and thanks for the feedback so far.

My pleasure. Smile

I was thinking about this a little more and thought that maybe instead of everyone getting to switch the order of things as soon as they go in decline, you could auction off the ability to all players in decline that turn.

So if only one person goes into decline they can do the switcheroo for free, but if others also go in decline, they all have to bid (like they do in Tales and Legends) to see who can switch things the way they want!

Just an idea. Cool

As I understood it, the Switcheroo ability is a Special Power that is only usable by its owner, isn't it?

This is an original idea, but I think I would have given 5 tokens with this ability ; 4 seems a bit weak for this kind of Power.

Ah...I see. This sounds a lot like Shadow Mimes, but it's a little different. Give it a try and let us know how it goes. Cool

I'm not familiar with the Tales and Legends expansion, but that auction idea sounds interesting. I wanted to keep this particular special power relatively simple, and avoid more 'layers' to it.

Maybe you could develop an auction idea into a race or power?

Yes, only used by its owner.

I was considering the potential point swing when this one time power would happen. But since the effect is much more of a wild card and circumstantial, I think you make a valid point.

I'll bump it to 5 and see how it goes.

Thanks

edit: Just remembered that Wealthy, at 4 race tokens, gives a flat 7 coins. This Switcheroo would give a 7 point swing, at best, among 2 or 3 players. Therefore even less impact compared to Wealthy in 4 or 5 player games. Planning on keeping race token bonus at 5.
