Twisted Evil
Today I tried a SFTF game with the above title. (Can't do all the diacritical marks in English.) My opponent and I played until he won six medals to my two. That should have been the end of the game. The game continued. For a laugh, we decided to play on. Eventually he wiped out my entire side. The computer then announced that it was my turn, even though I had no units. After exchanging bemused messages, we exited the game.

I would send the author a private message about this problem, but no author is listed. Perhaps someone with a little authority can solve this problem. (Not me, I have no authority whatsoever.)

Sounds like it was set up for a sudden death win. That doesn't work, and it corrupts the file. So even if the author turned off the sudden death win, the game is still unwinable by one side. The author needs to give up on that file and start fresh. Maybe Cut & Paste might work to speed the build process.

I had this to but playing solo and testing scenario's I made.
I think it has something to do with declaring multiple hexes as a medal objective.
Did you have medals and if so they where they on more then 1 hex just for the one medal?

Played another SFTF game with a French name. Once again, no author listed. No one had ever played the game, but it was rated at three stars. Guess modesty about his work is not one of the author's traits.

There were no rules listed whatsoever. However, when one would right-click on the Axis units, it displayed that the blitz rules were in effect. Playing the Axis, I played a recon card expecting to get an air strike. No such luck. Blitz rule was apparently not in effect.

There were hexes designated as Allied objectives. Since there were no rules, there was no way one could ascertain whether the objective medal was temporary or permanent without trying it out. It was temporary, much to my chagrin.

Once again I would tell the author about the problems directly through a private message, but, once again, no author was listed.

The program needs a fix to preclude someone from posting a scenario without authorship.

Or you could just not play scenarios that don't list rules or authors...just a thought. Very Happy

I would take the viewpoint that if you don't think your own scenario is worth 3 stars then why are you releasing it?

Anyway, your last SFTF are:

Bodange by JP von Kevy

Dinant-Houx by JP von Kevy

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/editor/view/?id=1324 7

Which looks one of the ones from last years Belgian Open

La bataille du Monte Marano by Elathion

http://www.daysofwonder.com/memoir44/en/editor/view/?id=1376 4

The first two have rules in French only, the latter does not apparently have any.

This is an important thing to remember, there is no auto-translation in the scenario. If you are designing a scenario in English, French players will not see the rules or notes, same is true for French players designing - English players will not see any notes or rules.

However very few of us are professional enough to see to this and do everything in both languages

As van Voort stated people do not tend to fill the "other language". Although I have to say a lot of the french players do provide english translations. (I do not know about the other way around as I infrequently log in as a Frenchie, see below)

I play all SFTF scenarios, also the french ones.

What I usually do is right click everything in sight to see if I can get more information that way. If there are special victory conditions this will not show up, and I find out the hard way (or easy way depends on the outcome. Smile )

To get the names of the editors and the rules I sometimes log in as French, but I have never looked at "english edited" scenarios to find out if you guys do provide French translations. But you must know yourselves. Wink

I would say even a disclaimer like: "I am sorry don't speak English" with the French text or "je m'excuse je ne parle pas Français" with the English text would be preferable to no text at all. That would at least (with help of Google translate maybe) give you some clue as to what's going on.

You could also have this website open while you play, on the SFTF page.
There, you can search the scenario you're playing, and see in which language(s) the rules are available. You can consult them in one of the available languages. Even if you don't speak the language, it's still memoir, so many things will be obvious and easy to understand.
Google translate a few terms to get what's missing.
