Exclusive scenarios Sun, 06 June 2004 12:47
Okay, I am waiting for my pre-order from DOW. I will get "Goodwood" or some such exclusive scenario.

BUT...if I had ordered from some other place, I would get their exclusive scenario.

Will they ALL be available online, at least eventually?

It seems like ordering direct from the manufacturer should get one the ultimate in support and product availablity.

True, for Overlord maybe I will want a second copy of the game, and could order from somewhere else...but, come on, I can't get copies from EVERYPLACE that ever offers an exclusive scenario.

Will DOW, or some website-creating fan, have a scenario clearinghouse with all these extra scenarios?

Maybe I'm being premature, since I don't even have the game yet!

Thanks.

Do preorders in Europe get Goodwood, or is it some US only deal? I got the game on Monday (via preorder) but there's only the standard rules/scenarios included.

No, it just means our people in Europe haven't had a chance to reply yet. You might want to try and contact them directly at customerservice@daysofwonder.com if you'd like.
best,
eric

No rush Smile I was just aware that most other posts were getting very swift replies and this wasn't. There are plenty of scenarios in the standard game to be going on with so I can wait a while for more to show up.

Yes, the pre-order scenarios will ship out late this week or early next. We had not received them yet when the products started shipping.

Game Trade Magazine (the current issue) has an exclusive M44 scenario + a small bag with a couple of tanks and some infantry figures.

I was a little disappointed with the quality of the paper the scenario is printed on. It is extremely flimsy and does not look like it will withstand much use. I will need to color copy the scenario on to heftier cardstock. But that leads me to the following:

The color makes it difficult to tell the german and allied units apart. My only complaint about the format of the scenario cards is that there are no easy identifiers to tell the two sides apart. Even as something as simple as rotating the german unit icons 180° would make a big difference.

Really enjoying M44. This is something I can play with my boys (6 and 7), friends and even my wife. It looks like it will get a lot of replay. Between this, Pirate's Cove and Ticket To Ride, Days of Wonder is quickly becoming one of my favorite game companies.

Chris,
You will be happy to learn that we came to the same conclusion earlier this week Embarassed , and that the upcoming Scenario editor (hence every future scenario from this week on) will have the German units facing to the left (ie opposite direction from the Allies) making it possible to use even b&w scenarios Smile
Glad you're enjoying the games!

Hello, everyone! (First time posting here)

Is the scenario in Game Trade magazine the same bonus "Goodwood" scenario being sent out with pre-orders, or is it a different scenario?

Thanks,

The scenario in Game Trade magazine is 17s: St. Lo., the Battle for Hill 192. Totally different scenario from the exclusive Overlord Sword and Goodwood.

Hi all. When I got home today (I was away the last few days), there was an unmarked envelope in the mailbox. It was the printed Overlord Rules and the scenario "Operation Goodwood". Thanks to DOW.

Laughing good one. I hate that I missed the latest issue of game trade at my lgs. never had any problems getting it before M'44. The good thing is that i finally got my very own copy of the game. i finally have a WWII themed game that doe not require you to be a rocket scientist to play. I felt the same about battle cry also.

Sorry to take up space here. I tried to contact wayne2d2 off line but couldn't find a way. So, Wayne2d2, I will try the places up here for an extra copy if you would like. Let me know at PHildreth@aol.com

Hi all
Got the game and am enjoying it immensely.
Two questions:
1. Do I take it that the St. Lo scenario 17s in Game Trade Mag will eventually be on line or otherwise available to those of us who never heard of Game Trade Mag?
2. I've done Battle Cry in 3-D with 25mm figs. Anyone planning on doing Memoir in 3-D? What scale would you use? Would Microarmor work?
(I guess that's more than 2 questions.) Smile

P17716,

I have done M44 in 1/32 and so has another poster, Brett. It worked out quite well...other than the space needed. 1/72 would be cool to do and probably alot more managable.

As for the exclusive sceanrios, I think that I've read something somewhere in this forum that they will eventually be posted on the M44 site.

Hope this helps,

1/72 is very manageable. The figs are also priced reasonably enough that you can try out full fledged WWII mini rules with minimal investment.

I had an entire 1/72 WWII army but I gave it to my son a year ago. Didn't think I'd need it. So it would be painful (read: costly) to start all over at that scale. That's why I was wondering about microarmor. Or even 10mm. Does anybody make 10mm infantry?

Yep - there are several companies who produce 10mm infantry. Perrin, the folks who provided the models for M44, produce a decent (if not small, last time I checked) line. You may also check The Miniatures Page (www.miniaturespage.com) for other manafacturers, or Brookhurst Hobbies.
