French retreat question Wed, 23 June 2004 17:37
I'll ignore any obvious puns regarding French troops and running away from combat... Laughing

But I do have an actual question about the French Resistance forces in M44. The rules state that when retreating due to a flag being rolled in combat, the French units may retreat 1-3 hexes, correct?

Is this 1-3 hexes total, or 1-3 hexes PER FLAG rolled against them? If 2 flags are rolled, do they still retreat up to 3 hexes, or up to 6? If 3 flags, do they run up to 9 hexes?

Not that you would ever necessarily need or want to run more than a few hexes away, but it could come up. Thanks

1-3 hexes per flag rolled against them. And yes, it does come up and can make for a very efficient reorganization of troops in the "maquis".

I'm pretty sure it's per flag, so basically French troops can...

Run Away! Run FAR away!

(Sorry, I couldn't resist.) Very Happy

If they ran from every war, you'd still be speaking English...
