Castle Tiles Mon, 08 October 2007 03:20
Any plans on including castle tiles as it would be cool to have 2 different castles (or forts) to protect/defend and they could be used as an objective of the scenario (Taking over the castle for instance).

There should be castle wall tiles for the outside of the castle as well as the castle floor tiles for the inside of the castle. Of course there should be at least 4 castle tower tiles to indicate each of the 4 corners of the castle.

I hope DOW entertains the idea as I think it would add a new dimension to the game (medieval or fantasy themes would be ideal for a castle).

I like it, I like it! Siege battles are often very interesting. This could be an expansion of its own and you could have moats and units with ladders....lots of possibilities.

Hot oil counters? Battering rams?

It would be interesting to see rules for this kind of game in BL.

I agree. BL would be great game environment for a seige scenerio. Unfortunately, DoW seems (IMO) a bit slow on coming up with new miniatures and scenerios (maybe I'm just an impatient @#%@! Very Happy) so don't count on anything like this soon. I wonder if there is another company that creates such items (catapolts, seige engines, etc) along with other miniatures (15mm? 25mm?).

Shadows over Camelot comes with 12 catapults, seven knights, picts, saxons, etc. Very Happy Anyone used these figures in a Battlelore campaign?

I dont want tiles for a castle. I want a a 3d castle. It wwould maybe take up 16 hexes or so. I would pay thirty bucks for that and some siege equipment and some adventures easy. No new units needed.
Oh anda working drawbridge/portcullis please.....and a cannon.

Good call. Does anyone know if the Camelot mini's are same size as BL minis?

I believe the Catapaults are the correct size - they might be a tad smaller than the BL figures.

But I would like to also have some sort of castle type adventure, so one can defend a castle from the invaders. Hopefully it will come soon.

I am waiting for DoW to come out with a Siege addition for BL. 3d Castle, Cannons and Catapults would be cool. jdw1710 check out, plastic soldier review, for a few 20mm plastic soldiers.

I think DOW's vision on this is that once the scenario editor is out there the players should produce their own scenarios.

Personally, now that CtA is out I'm a bit less concerned about official fantasy scenarios. However, I do still like to see official historical scenarios, and I think most of the BL fans that like the historical side of things would probably agree with me?

I would actually like to see a new board depicting a fortress being sieged.
It would be that the fortress is in the middle of the map, and the 3 wings(left, centre, right) are in a circular fashion. The variety would come from positioning tiles: towers and the like, or expanding/minimising the citadel with tile-walls. Razz

I don't want to crush your hopes, but I doubt DOW would produce such a board. It might be fun for a few games, but the fun of having a fortress smack in the middle of the board would probably get old real quick. I think they rather give us boards that allow lots of flexibility. I remember seeing a winter/desert boardmap for the M44 game though. Maybe we can hope for them to come up with something similar for BL.
