  Memoir '44 Unofficial FAQ v1.0 Tue, 26 February 2008 22:31
I've posted an Unofficial Memoir '44 FAQ, with permission from Eric Hautemont of Days of Wonder, to BGG (see link below). This is NOT an official FAQ and Days of Wonder takes NO responsibility for its accuracy and maintenance.

This FAQ is a reworded and organized compilation of Frequently Asked Questions from the Memoir '44 FAQs as well as postings made to the Days of Wonder forums.

This is version 1.0 and I'm hoping you all can provide further additions or corrections to this compilation by posting to this thread.

Here's the link:

Thanks!

Dear maximus,
The FAQ is a good read and very well put together. Believe it or not, I only have one question about it. You stated that the BEL card had the original intent of allowing ordered infantry to IGNORE all terrain MOVEMENT restrictions, however, it must comply with all terrain BATTLE restrictions. I was wondering if you knew where this was discussed in prior forums, as I would like to have the true skinny on this issue. Thanks again for all your hard work.

The original card was worded porly. it was later changed in subsequent printings. The way the card currently reads, is that BEL allows an Infantry unit to move up to 3 spaces ignore terrain restriction (except impassable terrain). Then it battles but must adhere to all terrain restrictions during battle (i.e. die reduction if battling a unit in a forest -or- no battle if the Infantry is now standing on a town hex). Then, regardless of the terrain restriction during the battle, the unit may again move up to 3 hexes ignoring all terrain restriction (so if it ended move 1 on a town hex and could not battle, it could still move again for the 2nd movement phase).

This comes from the FAQ for the base Memoir '44 game which can be found here:

Dear guys,
I guess you can read everything and still miss the obvious. Thanks for the clarification.

I do appreciate these type of FAQ's that combine in some of the "Unofficial" responses to questions, after the official FAQ has come out. It puts everything in one place, and puts a resource there for when DOW decide to update their own FAQ at some later time.

In the mean time though, some players may get a bit obsessive about where some of the entries on this UFAQ (Unofficial FAQ) come from, especially if an entry is from the forums, and especially if an entry is from RB. His entries DO tend to have an air of Officiality about them. He is the horses' mouth, after all.

Would it be possible to add a label to each entry that is from the forums, that indicates it's source? Perhaps a simple initial for RB, the forum username for anybody else.

All the questions answered in this FAQ are those answered in the online FAQs on the Days of Wonder website or verified by Richard Borg through forum postings. This FAQ is unofficial in the sense that Days of Wonder is not producing this document and will not take responsibility for its accuracy or maintenance.

Basically, this document consolidates all the information into a handy, reworded document with index for easy searching and better clarification IMHO.

If you notice any answers that do not conform to the official faqs or official postings by Richard Borg, please let me know.

Otherwise, this document represents the correct and official answers for the most frequently asked questions by Memoir '44 gamers.

As always, I welcome feedback related to corrections or additions to the FAQ. God bless, over and out.
