Too few travel cards? (Merlin's Company) Thu, 24 July 2008 21:16
Just played a few games with the expansion(Merlin's Company). Each game had 3 or 4 players and all sessions we had to at least reshuffle the travel deck once and on a few occasions 3 times in a single game. In the rules it says "in the unlikely event of running out of cards reshuffle." I've nothing against reshuffling but has anyone else run out of cards? Almost seems like the travel deck should've had 24 cards or so. Thoughts?!?

BTW, Love the expansion, great high quality made in Germany Very Happy

Just played for the first time last night and we had to shuffle the travel deck once. Not a big deal though. it was still a fun addition to the game.

I agree. Although I think the expansion could have been more of other things as well. This game box is deceiving, containing mostly black plastic filler. Don't get me wrong, I WILL enjoy the expansion, just had higher hopes. Rolling Eyes

Just doubling the cards in the travel deck could lead to you drawing twice as many bad cards in a row and basically suffocate Camelot.

I think more variety could have been good. I don't like the concept of just doubling what's there because (as pointed out earlier), this would cause the bad stuff to have the potential of becoming more concentrated. Perhaps more cards that redirect you to other quests, etc?

Firstly, I like the expansion. In regards to travel cards, I think that should me more original cards, as to make the deck larger. I also wish that the cards interacted with the knight mre, such as adding something similar to an exhaustion mechanic, if one can swallow that concept (GASP).

Seems to me for game balance (and memorization as to the probability of the next 'road hazard') there are there the right number of travel cards. Although I'm sure if there's another expansion beyond Merlin's Company, it will one of the things they tinker with.
