What does everybody think about Fantasy Flight Games getting Battlelore.

Not sure why DOW would give it up. Most reviews give it a high grade and all I hear about the system is positive.

It is a positve for both sides. FFG is well suited to carry the fantasy theme and produce the expansions the games needs. They are my 2nd favorite game publisher after DOW as their quality and customer support are great.

DOW will be well served because they can return to the company they were - innovative family games and dedicated support to Memoir.

It is a win-win situation though I am sure there will be some bumbs in the road during the transition.

I agree that FFG produce games of a very high standard, by in my experience they don't understand games they take from other people. (COnfrontation and AT-43, for example.) In January, they took on Dark Heresy from Games Workshop. They have produced expansions and gaming aids, but not the core rulebook!!!

Hopefuly Richard Borg will be with them and help them understand his brilliant game.

The thing to understand is that once FFG gets it, it will be FFG's BattleLore, not DOW's BL any longer. They won't be bound to whatever vision or promises DOW made to us. Which means we might not see a heroes expansion or all creatures may become exclusive or they may stop producing the game altotgether and promote anotehr title.

These are all possible outcomes - though improbably. If the Heroes expansion is close, they are going to take advantage of sales and get it out the door. I doubt they would stop making the game; if they wanted it gone, they would not have taken it from DOW. My only fear is that Creatures will continue to be a sticking point. FFG is known for promoting exclusives - usually in the foram of convention giveaways. But hopefully, they have heard the public outcry and won't go that route.

Fingers crossed Coltsfan.

When you are in Australia, you are kind of cut off from Conventions (and their exclusives)

I see this as a win-win, as well. I look forward to seeing DoW spend more time and resources on Memoir. FFG is a fav company of mine as well, and I think they'll do just fine with BL...it has too big a following for them not to invest some of their resources into it.
