Wildfire what about this idea for the leagues. Start the lowest rank at the top and the best player at the bottom. It would make all leagues very competitive anfd good players fighting to get out the lower leagues. They will have the thrill and fun as a racing car driver overtaking all in their way. Proposition concerning the Rules and Procedures of the TTR League: I like the general system displayed by Zeno in his post about how the League should operate (see "Something new for afte the NC"). What I do not like is the fact that a TTR League (and predominantly nearly all of the tournaments) are always played on the "standard" US map. If this is a TRUE league there should be at least the possibility to play on another map too (e.g. Europe or Switzerland) if BOTH players agree on that. Alternatively or additionally you could initiate a quota. The quota would simply mean that EVERY player has to play at least 25 % of his League matches on another map than the US map. The problem, however, would be to control that every player sticks to the quota. But I am sure that Tickipedia could provide a system where this can easily be checked regarding the League members (a statistics of their games plus the maps they were played on). To bring my idea into accordance with Zeno's propositions: AT LEAST 2 games of the 7 games which each league member plays against each other have to be played on a different map or at least a different version to play on that map (1910, Mega game, Big Cities). That means that each player has to choose at least one "special" map to play one game on. His or her opponent does the same. People who do not have the DOW CD just play 2 games on the EU map. A matchup could then look as follows: Player A chooses the Swiss map. Player B chooses the 1910 version of the US map. The first 5 games are played on the regular US map. The 6th game is played on the Swiss map. The 7th game will be a 1910 game. The scoring etc. stays the same as it is displayed by Zeno in his post. The Nations Cup is the big event of the US map and it is the only way to play the NC in my view...but with the league things are different. A league (especially if there is ONLY ONE league) should give EVERY player the chance to play games according to his or her strengths at least once in a while. Let me illustrate this with an example from the world of Poker. There are good tournament players and good cash game players (normally not the same people as it is a different style of playing). IF there was ONLY ONE Poker League it should consist of both elements, tournament style playing and cash game style playing. My proposition might have another interesting side-effect: It would finally raise the attractiveness and popularity of other maps as players would have to get used to them as well...and in a TTR League it should not be only one (standard version of a) map that dominates everything. In theory I like your idea, but there's a couple problems... The most prominent being that you can only start a Swiss/1910/ etc game if you've purchases the CD-Rom. Unless DoW changes that, I don't see how we could include those maps as a requirement.. it would essentially be limiting the potential players, which is bad, IMO. The other thing is that I think it's really a pretty different game .. Europe has stations, Switerland has the weird route cards.. even 1910/Mega change it signifigantly. There are some cool possibilities though... you could have to play a couple games on each map... or make it so one player is 'at home' and gets to pick, it could be random... definately plenty of material there. The same could be said for Multi, really... I think it would be pretty fun to have a league when you played everyone in a 2,3,4, and 5 player game. The logistics would be tough, but that's definately something I might try to work out in the future. If this goes well, we can definately explore doing variations on the theme, but I think sticking with the US 2-player for this time, just to keep it simple and work out any issues that come up. Obviously, wildfire, you did not read my updated version of the post... What is more simple to play 2 games on another map if each player chooses one of them...??? And as I said: If both players do not have the CD they just play 2 EU games. Or even more simple: You do NOT have to choose any other map. But each player has the OPTION to choose one other map or map version in each matchup. This is very simple. And then it would be a REAL World TTR League (and not a US map TTR League).
