1.) If I feel not well enough to play any more tourney games it does not mean that I cant play some other games just for fun later on...and btw...Jac_ left as well after losing 3 games against me. We did not arrange to postpone the games beforehand. Swissli (NC), Jac_, Sookie and Sysyphus were all lower-ranked at the time I played them. Tic was maybe around the same score...I did not remember this correctly. Please try to be fair here....

2.) Please ask "Der Neusser"....I want to see the screenshots BEFORE the last game against TRUE Tic...I think that we were pretty evenly ranked concerning the score....and dont you think that I am able to win with SEA-NY and VAN-MON? These posts are just ridiculous.

I'll be making a decision on Dennis on Monday... I wanted to give everyone a chance to voice their opinions.

That being said... it is NOT a Democracy... there will be a definate decision.

So I am finally caught up on the forums after being out of touch for some days. I have seen some things that I feel I must comment on here but I will comment as well in dennis' original post soon.

Quickly, as I see this example in the screenshot above I thought about how many games are played in the NC and how it would be virtually impossible to remember each player one plays against at a moments glance to determine if they are higher ranked, or what tickets one got, how the game progressed, who went first or whatever. I mean, I certainly don't remember all my opponents and specific details of all the NC games I played for sure.

This being said, I notice on the screenshot above that Dennis distinctly has the 2 big tickets and that Tic was not blocked and did get both his tickets. Is this an example of cheating? I don't see it and I am only trying to be fair here. There may have been other instances at other times as Dennis has admitted but this game certainly does not look like it at all to me. As certain as there should be some sort of consequence for past behaviour I hope that we as a community will not go out of our way to search for things that only flame up the pot. Let's move on.

OK - last time from me also, like Miguel said there is no sense in this "discussion" about fairness, moral and rules.

A few final points.

Dennis wrote: "People should just stick to the facts."

No Dennis, no. Human relations are no court. This gamesite is no court. If I am disliking you because of your behaviour - I DO NOT have to prove it in ANY way. Nor does anyone else. Must be a mystery to you, I know.

And about tournament rules. They are also decided by the people - if no one wants to play with you, then that is it. You are out, end of discussion. Very simple.

"I accept a fair decision. I do not accept a "witchhunt"

As I see it, you are not in a position to accept or not to accept anything. You lost your rights when you broke the rules. And this does not just apply to certain people or certain games.

It is YOU who have lost the trust - not the games or other players or game scores.

Anyhow - no matter how wildfire or someone else decides to proceed - from this moment on during the next 2 years you just do not exist to me anymore.

Dear Dennis,

you totally got it wrong...

Where the heck did I say "This screenshot is the perfect proof, you cheated in tournament"?

The only thing the screenshot gives proof of is the fact that your opponent was ranked higher during his match against you - so your memory maybe does not work that properly as you did not only once insisted on being higher ranked as all of your tournament opponents.

I did NOT want to comment on anything in this topic, I just wanted to clarify straight facts...

DN

BTW: Check out the Ticki-page of this match to see, that this was not only the case in the last game of this match:

Re:World TTR League Coal Shovelers Division (E) Sun, 25 January 2009 18:28
Dear all,

I did never say that I was always higher ranked than my tournament opponents...I said that I was usually higher-ranked than those opponents I happened to win against in a tournament and I included the games against Tic there...I obviously did not remember correctly that Tic was higher ranked than me at this time...but as the screenshots that were kindly gathered by "Der Neusser" show the games against Tic were very close and were all decided by longest one or ticket combos (and in one game I had to draw for a 3rd ticket at the end to still have a chance to win as Tic obviously had 2 big tickets according to his route...I luckily found LA Helena there if I recall correctly).

In general I lost against players who were higher-ranked than me in tournaments...eg against Deveric (Heroes Tourney) or against Patterson in the EMC or toutune (or was it Elric, I dont remember it) in the SPWT. I won my first round against wildfire in the EMC for example where I was higher ranked if I am not very much mistaken.

I know that it is bad enough that I cheated outside tournaments. And there can be consequences for that for tournaments - I do not deny this. But still I think it would be even worse if you apply for tournaments and cheated in former tournaments. I regard games in tournaments to be of greater importance (because of the official frame of tourney play) than usual every day games. And I invite everyone to scrutinize the games available in screenshots when it comes to my tourney matches. Please post if you discover anything suspicious there.

Yours

Dennis

Again you are grapping to something which is not important and passing what is important.
No one cares about your tournament history! Dom was just pointing how you seem to "forget" some things.

I realize that this post is off topic, and I'm sorry if I am posting to the wrong thread, but there is something that I have to say, and I would rather not have to open a new thread.

Zeno vs Sookie this Thursday at 20:00 CET.

There, now everyone can get back to the topic at hand.

Thanks,

LOL Zeno - good point! Smile

I do apologize that I have used your thread for secondary purposes and I think Zimo will agree.

The start of discussion just happened to be here - and the easiest way to comment was just to answer the previous comment.

I try to behave better in the future.
I promise.

As I posted separately, I have decided to remove Dennis from the league.

Those of you who have played games with him, those games will be removed all together... essentially this division will operate with 7 people for this season.

Feel free to PM me if you have any concerns.

WW - Sysy 3,5-3,5

I had all the luck possible in the first 3 games. I had VERY good combos all the games (can't remember ww's one apart from duluth hous-cal phoe / la-mia - tor mia/ ssm nash-ssm ok) :

sea ny-cal slc
van mon-mon atl
port nash-van mon
2x port nash-den pitt
van mon-van sf
Port nash- Sf Atl

1)129 122

2)122 114
3)123 52
4)114 121
5)111 123
6)128 128

I was leading 3-0 thanks to locos then ww played far better than me last 4 games and deserved this tie Smile ! Nice revenge when laying 5 locos on 6 greens last move of last game ! It gives a nice end to these nice games.
Best luck ww for the upcoming league games Smile !

Re:World TTR League Coal Shovelers Division (E) Thu, 29 January 2009 21:43
Two results to report, both very sad (from my perspective at least)

Sookie and I played our match today, and Sookie defeated me by a score of 4 to 3. Most of the games were lopsided. Sookie got the big two one game, I got 9 locos the next and so on. Anyway, it was 3:3 by the time of our last game, and I was given one of those maddening choices. I can go out with a 1 and a 4 to Atlanta and New Orleans giving me a 44 track. Alternatively, i can play the four first to force Sookie to take the 1 and tie for longest. in the back of my mind is the worry that Sookie could play the 6 yellow to get a 45 track. I had gotten only 3 yellow and two wild all game, while Sookie had played only a 3 yellow (IIRC) and there were 2 yellow sitting on the board. If I take the 1, Sookie could take the 2 yellow off the board, playing six yellow next turn for longest track and a big bonus. My tickets were small, and the score was close, but i figured Sookie might have a smaller ticket, perhaps a Den-EP or a LA-Hel (it was obvious that Port-Phx was one ticket, Dul-EP was possible, and LA-Sea was a longshot). I take the four, Sookie cuts, has Dul-EP and wins by 1, 112-113.

So after that game, I have a chance to redeem myself, since I had stop playing against Rufuz when we were 3:3. We arranged that we could meet after my match with Sookie. i got stuck with Mon-Atl and Dul-Hou, but on the bright side 9 locos. We tangle in the South, which is fine with me, as I hope that Rufuz is getting into a blocking game with me. As it turns out, what I took for blocking is largely a competing LA-Mia ticket, which I allow to go through. Misery doubled for me today, as the final score was not close.

So far four matches, each of which has gone to 3:3, with me winning the first, and losing the next three. Such is life.

At least my dog still likes me,

Z

Result Jac WW 2:5

I'm a math teacher but not a "statistical" kind of person, so I can't really remember my tix nor jac's.

I think I started more often and I can't complain about locos or colours.

Thanks Jac for the games, I think I had just more luck.

Started with 4 straight wins to take the match, but Sysyphus fought back with two nice wins before the final game went to me by a point.

Sysyphus has finished, but I still have one league match to go.

Zeno 6, Jac 1

Well, Rui was wrong about the locos. One game I only had one loco*!

It was one of those days when the colors came up great for me. My routes were all fairly flexible, and Jac_ was typically playing somewhere else on the board. You know what a great feeling it is when you need the 6 white, and your opponent plays the 5 white? I got that feeling all day long, as luck would have it, and it makes playing much easier.

Anyway, thanks again for the games Jac_,

Z

*Though the rest of the games I averaged about 6

Not that we're close to the end...

It's mathematically possible, but not very likely, that RMarkes could drop to 3rd... winning the match with Sookie guarntees first.

Rufuz needs just 1 game of 7 against Wostwuist to pass Zeno, but that would leave WW a chance to sneak into 2nd with an accompanying win over Sookie.

Similarly, Sookie has a good chance at 2nd with 2 wins.

Zeno needs a very particular set of circumstances (WW winning 7-0 over Rufuz, then losing to Sookie... along with RMarkes beating Sookie) to finish 2nd.

Sys and Jac have the bottom two spots.. Jac came 1/2 point from escaping the cellar.

Welcome to Season 2:

The Coal Shoveler's are

stemayf (7th from D)
Zeno (returning 4th)
Sookie (returning 3rd)
Wostwuist (returning 5th)
Foudecoasters (1st from G)
Dizz (2nd from F?)
Nomade (8th from D)
Kostas123 (New to the league this cycle)

Let the games begin.

ps. Good times for me are Tuesday/Thursday 19:00-22:00 CET and some Fridays 19:30-22:00 CET.

pps. I know most of you, but I would enjoy hearing a bit about Nomade and Kostas. I'm an American, living near Dallas (recently moved), in my upper 40's, who teaches math. Best known in the community for what I write, rather than the quality of my play, but I remain hopeful.
