Card Storage Tue, 14 April 2009 00:46
I have to move a lot of Memoir '44 games around every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon to get ready for my Memoir '44 History Club. Right now I'm using 3 sets of the base game every time and any expansions we need. Confused To help cut down on the number of individual boxes, I've consolidated everything I can into the base box. Smile

Up until recently, this meant I had the decks of cards in the boxes with a rubber band around them, which killed me because I could imagine the damage I was doing to them! Shocked With some help, I found some card boxes made my Isaac on BGG that I used for the cards. The only problem is that his boxes are designed for cards that are in protective sleeves, so my decks don't fit very well! Sad

With his permision, I copied his idea and made my own boxes that fit a normal Memoir '44 deck of cards. I made lots of different variations of the boxes with images from the expansions or the game components. You can find them on my User Page or with this link:
http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/mypage/362174/m44/story#_inde x_12

I hope some people will find these boxes useful, but if not you can feel free to tell me to shut up and stop bothering you! Laughing Have fun playing the game.

Hi Rasmussen 81, I tried making one of the card boxes, it came out to short. I don't think I did anything wrong. I down loaded it, then coyied it on my printer, cut it out, glued it, it was to short. Have you had anyone else have any trouble with the boxes.

Oh no! Shocked

I've tried making the boxes myself and they worked out, but I haven't had anyone else make them. I know that one other person made a box from Isaac and he had his printer set to print out the document at 85% or something so it was too small as well. You might check that and make sure it's printing 100% size.

Let me know if it still doesn't work! Confused

My son knows alot more about computers than I do, I'll have him take a look at this, he'll know what to do. I'll keep you informed on how it goes. Thanks for your time.

Ras.

Do you have a template for an 'Overlord' size deck that comes with the Overlord expansion set?

Not yet... Very Happy

I could probably make one of those! I'll look into it. Good idea. Cool

Thanks for posting this. Right now, my deck is stored in an old Overpower starter deck box.

I use an Ultra-Pro Deck Box for the reference cards. They all fit perfectly until the Campaign Book came out. They still fit, but it's a little snug now.

I'm glad these boxes can help other players! Are you thinking of making a switch from your proven Overpower box to one of these? Rolling Eyes

If I made a box for the reference cards, would you use it? The box would have to be a bit bigger (probably on two pages like the ones made by Isaac) but it wouldn't be very hard. If there's interest, I don't mind doing the work... let me know.

Success! (on the second try). I should have looked at the earlier posts a little more closely, as my Adobe printed the first box at 94%.

I really like my Ultra-Pro box, as it is made of durable plastic and has a velcro closure. I was actually thinking of looking for a smaller one for the Command Cards, but never got around to it. Maybe I'll just print some graphics for it to spruce it up a bit.

Translation... Thanks for the offer but, no thanks! Laughing Laughing

I'll see how much work it would take to make a big box for the reference cards and I might make it anyway. But the next few weeks are a little crazy so I'll have to see if I can fit it in.

Enjoy the plastic box, Cheng. Just as long as you aren't using a rubber band, I'm happy!! Very Happy

It looks great. I'd love to laminate it, but I don't think I could get it to fold if I did that.

It turns out that changing the size of the box is extremely easy! Cool

I've just uploaded a box that is big enough for both Operation Overlord decks to be stored in. It's a two page file because the form would be too big on one page. If you like keeping the two overlord decks seperate, you can just use two of my other boxes.

Enjoy!

Hi Jesse.

These boxes look great. I like the look of the overlord box.

I printed out and assembled the countryside board box and uses it to store the cards, badges, lc`s and reserve tokens from the campaign book. It is spacious. but it works great!

Maybe a box that looks like the Campaign book for me?

Keep up the good work!

Would you like any Fries with that? Laughing

(I don't know if they ask that question in fast food places over in Norway, but they ask all the time here in the US)

Hi cheng, I printed my 1st box at 94% too. I'am not real good with a computer, how do you get your Adobe printer to go from 94% to 100%? Any info would be helpful. Thanks for your time.

The Campaign Book Volume 1 now has its own command card box! Cool

I'm going to make almost the same box with Germans and French on the sides and another one with Germans and Russians on the sides. Look for those soon.

When the print window comes up, a little more than halfway down the left side there is a pulldown menu called Page Scaling. The default value is "Fit to Printable Area." Change this to "None" and it should work.

I'm glad you got the printing figures out, 5-Star. Smile

I've updated the project area with a few versions of a Campaign Book Volume 1 box. I've also provided a box designed for the Summary Card deck. It'll be a little big for the cards right now but you'll have room to add the summary cards you get in other expansions.

Enjoy and have fun! Very Happy

WOW it's been awhile since I've been on here...

I've made a box for the summary, command, and overlord cards. These are the coolest things since sweatpants with pockets! No more sorting the mess of cards every time I open the air pack YEAH!

Thanks for the boxes, Rasmussen. I put together the overlord box, as I just got that expansion, and I think that I had the problem with the computer shrinking the printout too. My box still works, But I have to put a rubber band around the box to keep the lid closed. I may try to make another soon, and I'll remember to make sure that it is set at 100% next time.
