Hi Bassie,
if it makes you happy (and yes, it would be nice to see you in the event) I have no problem to play rated and I'm sure neither will tewe.
But, honestly, not because I think it makes any sense, just because we don't care about points too much.
If you play a team event it's clear that you play for the team result, not for personal vanity.
If you see it that way, the points you win or lose are simply coincidence - so what's the use of counting them?

Well Bas - I think I am over the point of caring too much for ELO either (at least I hope so Laughing ) - so at first thought I did not mind to allow for RATED Tags.

second thought though made me not that sure anymore:
The idea is not the individual result but the sum of both players. You can reach that by different ways - some make no difference for your overall ELO - others do. You can try to both reach average results or you can sacrifice one player for the other. In a regular multi you never get into that situation - I know you would heavily block Jac to win the multi Twisted Evil - no mercy there ...... but if you have to add her points to the overall - will you still do so?

third thought:
If you have to sacrifice your partner all three times of a TAG match with you getting out of each game beeing first and thus winning the game - how far away from cheating are we then? We accuse it if some people here use second accounts to transfer pts from one to the other - are we going to let that happen just cause it is a tournament? (thinking of your situation - you could easily transfer 20+ from you to Jac that way ((AHHHHH - Yes she would love that Twisted Evil )) - of course we say it is just for the benefit of the team ..... but still - I do not feel well with that.

The idea is to talk and know your partners tix and colour cards - to set up a team strategy - in regular multi games that is against our own standards of rule - in TAG we do it for the fun and the tactical benefit - I feel not really well to play games that are basically against our standards of rule if they are RATED.

So as an overall conclusion I think at least for the TAGs we should not touch the ELO system playing TAG, especially as the ELO does apply on other players that do NOT play TAG.

Still if the majority of TAG players would vote for rated tags it would be fine for me to change the recent rules to rated TAG.

And - Jac, Bas - of course you are very welcome to play FEUD Cup

I will let you have some more time to consider this post? - Maybee I catch you in the lobby later.
Cu, Mas

Why don't we just play rated TAG Snake, drawing 3 times minimum, adding dumbbot as a 5th player?

It is easy to give up your tickets to block the opponents if it's unrated, but would you do it if it's rated?

Hi Bassie,

I won't play FEUD but I played FED cup and I wouldn't want to play rated. I basically agree with Masimo. I wouldn't really consider it cheating if somebody decides to play rated. I think Masimo wouldn't either.

By mistake my partner opened a rated TAG and I came in last because I had small tix and concentrated on blocking. It's good for the team, but I see no reason to rate such a game. I didn't even try to win or come in second (as a single player). Why should my points be transfered to others in such a case.

And on a side note:
To play TAGs rated to me sounds like saying: "Hey I have a great ELO rating, even though I don't care about it at all."

Regards,

Rufuz

of course it would only be cheating if you transfer your ELO on purpose (which you would not really do in a TAG) - but still I feel it is very close to it.

let me play devils advocate:

can anyone imagine Zimo sacrificing for Truckerteller - thus probably even making Truck No1 with the ELO he would have won with that TAG - and NOBODY complaining?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

I can vaguely see Zimo throwing himself on the sword after an hour of coercion and NLP, thus getting me a new high in EU and maybe even first place in general. Twisted Evil

BUT HOW, I ask you, for the love of God, is Zimo gonna pursuade me to sacrifice MY precious precious points, so the Boy can add another title to his collection? Rolling Eyes Laughing

Very nice reply, Truckerteller

I think we do agree: TAGS UNRATED

sorry Bas - still hope you can make up your mind and accept that - still joining the FEUD Cup (let me now till tonight - I think it would be good if we could start schedling the matches and maybee even have some matches already this weekend)

Interesting replies everyone. I already knew I have a bit of a weird tic wanting to play rated all the time - yes I do care about my rating. I thought - and in a way still think - that playing rated adds spice since you might have second thoughts instead of just throwing yourself for the train (OK - not funny Laughing ) for the benefit of your partnership. In the long run the points between you and your partner will even out, so in that sense nothing unfair.

I must admit I never thought of cheating though. It is a bit of a vague area. One thing became clear to me in any case: I am a n00b when it comes to tag. I'll try to change that and so Jac and I will gladly sign up.

In case anyone wants to play rated, we are open, but looking at the above it might be easier if we don't.

have fun all!

Well, Ty and I are preparing for the big match against Jac and Bassie. Unfortunately we screwed up managing our points ( Rolling Eyes ) so we could make it in group B in stead of the very strong group A but we would have been underdogs in both groups so it won't matter much.

We have practiced at least 2 times so we should be ready Very Happy

Wish I knew where I put that ticket list last, not sure I know 1/4 of the Europe tickets, and I just learned there are stations to be used !!

Be kind to us, we are so inexperienced... Embarassed

Thanks for organizing guys, we have a good group, and this tourney promises to be more about fun than most other 'stressful' championships...

We are trying to make our first game today...Sunday May 17th...around 18h30....

hihi, you sure know how to use them after double double blocking Ty and I on Sunday...

I learned many new things in just 1 single tag game, not in the least that anything is possible in the EU map and also you can still win a game after you're double double blocked if you have time to use 3 stations and your partner's connections....

very exciting first two games... see you on Thursday 19h00

womble-Masimo and Zimo-Truckerteller beat us 8-2.

They were better in both cases - no issues there.

As for the accusations to our side:

- some people said we are slow - correct
- some people said we whine - correct
- some people said we are grumpy - correct
- some people thought we are sore losers - correct

The good news for you and for our relationship: only one match to go. Laughing Laughing

We will have some fun with the Italians yet - when would you guys like to play?

In our last match we beat Qorlas / Fitzcarraldo 9-1. This results in a Feud balance of 1-4 (matches), 20-30 (games). Clearly we suck, but this was probably expected by the more experienced players (not by us though). We managed to have some fun together towards the end of the competition, which is the greatest victory for us. Anyway, was a nice way to rediscover that the EU map is our least favourite.

Some tips from a n00b:

- Lucullupus (and I bet others did before him) advised to have a random start for the first single and order the other singles such that each player has exactly one start. I agree with him - this part of luck can and should be taken out.

- The rule in case of a double start is unfair. A restart should be automatic to give both teams equal chances. Now the non-double-starting team has an advantage: either restart (equal chances) or a start with favourable tickets (better chances). He who thinks playing against a double start is always disadvantageous: that is exactly the way we earned our only victory against Truck/Zimo.

- I think giving 1.5 points for a tag would bring some interest in the singles - the only way to turn a result in the singles now is to win them all. As a bonus, a draw becomes impossible since there are only 8.5 points at stake.

- There should be one easy to find spot where all current rules regarding Fe(u)d are shown, preferably Tickipedia. Maybe I am just stupid but I did not find a complete overview anywhere.

Last but not least: a warm thank you to the organisation (Masimo & dea?) for having us in your tournament!
