Hecki - Miguel

Score

2-4

very nice games.

i was really into blocking.
and hecki was really keen to keep 4 even 5 ticks (and i got myself blocking nothing on that 5 tick game)
but mainly i got some blocks made and in final game hecki need to draw country-country ticks since he had zurich linked to austria and germany...he drew one still not enough.

this is how i saw it. Smile hecki can complete if he wants 2

TheKid - Qorlas 3-4

135-88
85-101
87-91
57-93
86-64
-----
104-101
42-93

We completed the series today. What can I say about the games? Game 6 was really close and well played by both sides, I was thinking of being ahead at the end, but the play of theKid was really fantastic Smile
Game 7 was really strange... The final score is really not telling the true about this game. I had good starting tix and connected well Bern, Zurich and Chur going for the borders, but theKid blocked me out of Basel really well. I was sure of losing it, but at the last move, he forgot the last connection.
I was really lucky in that ending.

Thx again for the games theKid, I learned really a lot from you on the Swiss map in this series Smile

Good luck for the other tournaments!

The all-Austrian [semifinal] will not happen.

I didn't have to do much, as pammes kept drawing lousy tickets and playing tunnels which called for either 2 or 3 Shocked extra cards to complete (this happened about twice per game). I made my tickets, a long route (first three anyway), pumped up my play score, and finished while he was getting pushed around by the cards. It almost felt like a two on one battle, me and the dealer against pammes.

Angel 4 Miguel 5 (One tie)

Very close games.

Some hard blocking games, some Angel got a nice lead. tunnels were demanding to both.

with 4-3 to me angel gets a tie playing a single to tie at 83

then makes 4-4 with class

9th game angel said something about a mistake, not sure which was it or if it would mean the victory going to austria, i assume getting the chur link with 5, but that would mean me taking the 6s so from that point we a crystal ball Smile

thanks for the games Angel. like i said it was really demanding and above all pleasant games

Miguel

Thanks for the games too, Miguel!

For my means I played much too fast, thus commonly being surprised by Miguel's moves. At 4:4 I felt quite lucky, being very close to lose 3:5.

The last game was already won for me IMHO, getting the 6 in the southwest and the 4 black in the north east + the Germany-Austria connection, and holding 10 tunnel cards for my 10 points Chur ticket. I think I only needed to get this second ticket to win, two 5 tunnels would have been enough, even without the 6 tunnel.

But every credit to Miguel, the killing Chur-to-the-west tunnel came without any hesitation.

Thanks to some lessons I learned from watching Miguel, Angel and others I'm starting to get a grip on this map Cool

Played my first Swiss games without drawing tons of tickets Rolling Eyes

And it even worked out ... not always but in 5 out of 9 games (up to the reader to guess the result Wink ... amazing, a new kind of Swiss experience.

Thanks Chris for very interesting games

Qorlas - Zeno 5 - 2

108 - 105 (Qorlas starts)
29 - 67 (Zeno starts)
101 - 31 (Qorlas starts)
77 - 103 (Zeno starts)
101 - 46 (Qorlas starts)
85 - 80 (Zeno starts)
103 - 70 (Qorlas starts)

Really nice series of games Smile

Only in one game the starter did not won and that one was really close. All the games were really contested with a lot of blocking from both sides. I was really lucky in the last game where I felt to be behind and started to draw tix founding out a couple of Fra-Aut connections that were decisive.

Sorry again for my problems of connection in the first 2 games Zeno Smile

Thanks again for these games, I am really learning a lot from this first month of play in Swiss Smile

Grats Miguel, you played really really well Smile

My tix were not so good and my play was always out of tempo from the moves of Miguel. I was always 1 or 2 rounds behind in the closure.

I could have won a couple of these games with a little more luck, but the series was never in discussion. Miguel played always a bit better of me (or also more than a bit in many occasions Wink )

Grats again and good luck to both in the Final (a beautiful final between the 2 best players of this tourney) Smile

SATURDAY 16 CET DEA Miguel

The poor portuguese guy was not ready to handle the alps still on his backpack he had a nice portuguese jacket to keep him warm...when he saw Big Hill Qorlas he decided it cost him 2 much to give up without even trying...so off he went...counquering the italian alps...

So now he faces the rocky, tricky austrian mountais...he's aware that Mountains also have gender...this one is called Dea.

Smile looking forward Smile

Re:SMC 2009 Schedules and Results Fri, 29 May 2009 11:10
Yesterday I was climbing a cliffy mountain pass near Brusio.
Just one last narrow point to master and I would reach the summit, when suddenly ... the constriction was blocked by a big hairy creature ...
OMG, did I run into the Yeti?
I was petrified, unable to move, thinking about the legend that the Yeti had even killed an Angel one day.
The monster slowly approached me, I could already smell it's odour (at least that was better than I feared - did I smell Davidoff?).
It raised its arms, starting to embrace me - oh dear, the Yeti will squeeze me to death - and it said 'they call me Miguel' ... then I fainted ..

... I regained consciousness and looked at ...
... Mudda! ...
Did my hero come back to save me from the Yeti?
But Mudda quit the League when he couldn't be my master any more ... and was he ever seen in Switzerland?
My brains must really be damaged by the thin air in those mountains.
And then I heard Mudda say ...
'All is well, deamaus, you only had a bad dream.
The Yeti doesn't exist, nobody can block you from getting to the top.'
