Dizz-KP 4-3

I am very unhappy about this game. Dizz played extremely slow, delayed unduely many times and for long periods of time, sometimes when no thinking was required at all.

When I asked her about it she ignored my questions, except for 1 time, when she said "she has a life that is being interrupted by TTR games". I asked at least 5 times to play faster and I was ignored.

When I schedule valuable time out of my day I would appreciate people playing at a normal speed. If that cannot be done, I am really not interested to play.

Most of us have other things to do, respect each other's time please.

I wish we could put some kind of timeline in the game because this is very annoying.

KP-Stemayf 2-5

I am now getting out of the league. I just don't have time to do these long and dreaded games.

So, I am sorry, but this is not fun. If there are no urgency considerations I cannot schedule time for this.

So I apologize to other players in the league but my decision is not solely based on today:

* I was disappointed to win G1 and be put in the same league as no 2 in G1 (I should have been a division higher), and then find out there was room in the higher league(s) for people that didn't play before. I don't think the place setting in the divisions is fair and per set rules.

* I am going through hoops to schedule games and then find that other players find it appropriate to play so darn slow I can take conference calls and trade the stock market at the same time and not miss a beat. It's not fun to play so slow and moreover it is not the point of the game. In theory you can play so slow to count every single color and draw out every option and win every game. If then it is accepted startegy to play slow and waste other players time I dam not interested.

* I am a bit frustrated as my tickets seems to be aweful for the last 4 weeks. I had Dallas-NY 3 times this morning against Dizz, and i had my last game against Steven, Bos-Mia + Dal-NY !!

Does not seem like the software is set up to be really random and I am a bit tired of acting as if it is.

Whatever the rules are, I am happy to bail out and let the system apply the points to the remaining games...

Good luck all.

Re:World League Season 3 <Division D> Tue, 07 July 2009 22:14
Koel,

I'll put in my response before Dizz.

Time is an issue for all of us. There will always be something more important than TTR. However, when you sign up to play in a competition, you don't get to pick and choose players based upon your or their style of play. You're bound to come across quicker or slower players, players who enjoy blocking, etc. That's just how it is. And remember, no-one forced you to play.

Regarding your first match today, yes, I'm sure she'll admit it, Dizz can play slow, but that's her style. You asked me in our games to speed up: I responded positively and did so, not that I was playing slow in my opinion. Completing a 7 game series in a little over an hour and a quarter is not too shabby - 10 minutes per game. If we didn't hang around in the lobby for so long, it would have been even shorter.

I recognise your disillusionment regarding promotions, but the league format is still embryonic, and will continue to develop in ways in which some disagree until a stable format is found.

Changing tack, maybe if your own style of play - I'm thinking of how many times you said 'good luck' to me (none) or 'grats' (once only, and not even at the completion of the series) - became more friendly, opponents would be more inclined to speed up as you wish. This refusal to wish good luck or congratulate your opponent on their win (disappointingly, not uncommon), tied with your views on slow play and commenting on them openly, and your apparent unwillingness to complete your matches, unfortunately make you appear somewhat as a sore loser. I'm sure you're not.

Result: Koel 2 - 5 stemayf

32 - 175
117 - 93
113 - 126
105 - 114
115 - 122
97 - 107

Dear Koel,

if you are definite about leaving the league now, please pm the TD Wildfire and if you like cc to me. Of course this was and will be not very much appreciated, so you might want to sleep over it and reconsider.

Not knowing the details of your matches, in general I understand that very slow opponents can be enerving. Let me tell you that one of my matches this season took almost 3 hours. But what Steven says (many different styles) is true too. But then again usually a friendly opponent asked friendly could speed up a bit. Not respecting the opponents time and deliberately or unduely slowing games down is rude, I agree. Seems to me to be much like the whole thing: communication, respect, on both sides > fun.

While I did not take the decisions, looking at your promotions from last season, I think that was rather fair. As you know from season 2 to season 3 many people dropped out, so the more or less set rules just could not be applied. Instead the whole thing was reduced from 8 to 6 levels, not an easy thing to do.
You say you should have been one level higher than Marschall. Let me mention that Marschall scored 38 points and you 39, pretty close. Since there was room in D, Marschall was put there. The other option would have been to put you in C? That would be higher than for example dizz, who finised 3rd in E in season 2!?

You got a point mentioning the wild cards. But, only two wild cards were put in "higher" levels this time and only one of them higher than your level, which is Elric in B. Wild cards were and will still be discussed controversely. My personal opinion is rather restrictive, but I consider the amount of wild cards (2) given last season acceptable.

As said above, please sleep over it and if you still want to back out, please pm Wildfire.

Regards
Colo

dear koel,

for respect for your 2 last opponent MV and RFAD , play your last games please .

Anne is slow, ok, but she's a fun and nice player. I think steven is not slow... in the average of lot of players... I have a lot of pleasure to play with them in the last season.

I don't really understand your problem with promotions-relegations ... but it's not the question here...

...the question is " for respect for your 2 last opponent ( and communauty of TTR in general ), can you play your matchs please ??? "

thx for reflexion .

have fun

non mais t'es pas fou... ? Twisted Evil moi j'étais bien content de gagner un match par forfait ! Surprised ! Cool ! Shocked ! Crying or Very Sad !!!! pfew....

Surprised

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Are you crazy foudecoaster... ? Twisted Evil I was very happy to win a match by forfeit Surprised ! Cool ! Shocked ! Crying or Very Sad !!!! Pfew....
More seriously, the respect would be to ALL the players who already fought with you, Koel Player. I hope that we shall find 45 minutes to complete our 7 matches (I am not good enough to think about 42 options... maybe because of my laziness... or both Laughing )
About the problem of wild cards I think that everything was said at the BEGINNING of the competition and that it' a bit late to wake up and scream. Finally, I would respect your choice, but I find it sad to say it's only a problem of tickets ( we all had bad tix and the possibility taht gave DoW to choose the beginner reduced that factor a lot).
well , as we say France "la nuit porte conseil" , then I hope you'll wake up tomorrow morning with a full taste for the struggle Surprised
Despite Xavier's disagreement, I know I had all the luck during these games: locos, big tix, nice colours... and Xavier unfortunately did not.
Thanks again, Xavier, for agreeing to play at short notice, and thanks to all who watched.
I've finished my matches now, and I've enjoyed this third season very much, as I have enjoyed the two previous seasons. It just happens that I've been luckier in this one. Roll on Season 4.
Two more things to say:
1). Koel - come back and finish the league. Quit at the end if you want, but RFAD and Marschall deserve the opportunity to complete their matches. Come on, be fair, and show some respect.
2). I've been a member of this community for just over three years now. There aren't many other UK players - the ones that there are very well known, and we play/played together in the NC. Aside from these players, I've not really built up friendships or camaraderie with anyone else in the community. But, you know what? This league, Wildfire's creation, has changed it all. Since joining in the league, I've had the chance meet lots of new players, and make lots of new friends, through playing each series of games and competing in friendly rivalry. For this, I'm extremely grateful, because it's something that none of the other tournaments allow you to do. And perhaps that will be a legacy of this league, that many more players like myself will build relationships and friendships through the league process. Thanks to you all who've made partaking and competing a pleasure, and thanks to Wildfire as well.
I hope this doesn't sound to vomit-inducing. Maybe they won't want to be my friends after all... Smile.
See you soon,
Steven
I haven't heard from Koei yet.. has anyone who hasn't played him yet tried to schedule a game?
I hope that, out of respect for his fellow players, he'll play his last two matches.
As far as division placement goes, when you win almost exactly half of your games, (Koei is 17-18 this season) I can't help but think you're in exactly the right place. I'd be happy to have a private discussion about any concerns you have on that score, however.
