Scenario publishing problems - please help Wed, 02 September 2009 12:15
Dear scenario authors,

I have put a lot of effort to make a decent version of Dnieper battle overlord. I tried to present it in a bit different way from the jdrommels (whose scenarios I greatly admire). Now I have problems putting it on the "Scenarios from the front" page. I have made it "Public" and put it on my user page. What else should I do to publish that scenario on the page? Thanks a lot,

Lujo

I have never met such problems since I've been making scenarios...
Anyway, it looks good! Wink

By the way, why have you posted 5 times the same scenario?!

I sent that "probe" scenario to see how does the system work. But it didn't arrive to my user page. So I sent it again and waited. Nothing. And so it happened 5 times. Later that day there were 5 of them. :S

Could there be the problem with my account? I didn't add recently any new privileges to it. What do you do to get your scenarios published to the page?

Two more questions :/ - how do I update the scenario that is already on my user page and how do I delete these unnecesarry ones?

Btw. I've studied a bit your Hungarian scenarios, some of them are great. I already saved your "Battle of Torda" to the folder "Eastern front after '43." Smile
Tnx for the encouragement on this overlord - could you please tell me do you find the rules of reinforcements precise enough?

I sent you really lots of questions, hope that you'll have enough time to answer...

Thanks a lot, man...

Well, I've already played your scenario (the 1-board version)! Very good looking map to play on (and geographically correct)! Very Happy

I've really enjoyed it. When your scenario will be on STFT, then I shall post the full AAR. Short AAR:

9-5, German tactical victory, operational stalemate. Soviets quickly seized the bridgehead at Rzhishchev, then stormed with the paratroopers, seizing Pil. Dubari was held by some "invincible" (sic) cadets, who were attacked many times, but the attackers were repelled so many times...luck.
After some hand-to-hand combat, and after bringing in the whole Panzerwaffe, the Germans started erasing the Rzhishchev bridgehead with huge success, gaining some nice Victory Points! Russians thereafter were unable to catch up with the dynamic German troops.
(Note: I've played it against myself... but I've put the maximum effort on both sides; Russians haven't got the perfect cards, only some Recons...)

IMHO, it needs a little more editing on it, so it can be a pretty balanced scenario - that's how it can be fully enjoyed! Cool

To delete scenarios, open the Scenario Editor, click on the "Open from Days of Wonder Online", then click on the trash icon next to each unnecessary scenario.

Thanks for taking a look at "Battle of Torda"! A campaign about the Hungarian Theater is already under work. Watch for more updates! Wink My objective is to make known, that the war waged on even on my homeland (and sadly, with many atrocities...)

Reinforcements rules were not precise enough, you haven't said, on which turn they come in, etc... so I've used the Reserve rules from Campaign Book 1. On each order, one unit can be brought on the battlefield.

As I looked at your scenario, you've really did a very great job! You've created this scenario using time-travel: the scenario was last edited on January 1st, 1970!? Laughing Laughing

Damn, I had a problem like this... during a period, all scenarios which were created during that time, all of them were edited last time on 00/00/0000 Very Happy !?

Wow, your reply is more than I could've hoped for! Tnx very much for playtesting the small model! I'll do that with Battle of Torda and this Overlord of mine these days too. And I'll certainly check what I did with the reinf rules in Overlord version.

I really appreciate your effort of describing the Hungarian historical situation through such good a medium as M44 is. I'm from Croatia and I still search for a source detailed enough to put together some domestic WWII scenario...

Still don't know what might cause that my scenarios are not visible at the "Sftf" page. I checked all the details in the scenario and everything seems to be as it should be. Freaky.

Croatia? I just love your country!!! Very Happy

I and my parents have been there 2 times: last year and this year, and I just couldn't stop watching the sunset at the beach Razz.
We have been at all places between Dubrovnik and Rijeka (including at Plitvice lakes).

Lujo:

In your scenarios, you set the "Original ID" to 1. This is a bad idea. The Original ID is used to group scenarios together, when you make variants of the same scenario. Scenario of ID #1 does not exist - and in any case, a fan's scenario cannot refer an official scenario, since they don't belong to the same lists.

I fixed your scenarios on the database side, so you will see that they now appear. but this is temporary. You need to go back to your original files/scenarios, clear this value in your scenario settings (it can be empty or 0), and re-save them to DoW Online.

Also, you should remove your duplicates.

Enjoy,

Yann

Note: Full AAR is posted.

Thanks Yann for making the situation clear. I thought the scenario editor doesn't works like last time did... anyway, thanks.

Yann:

Thank you very much for the help, I have already made use of your advices and everything seems to be working just fine.

Nemesszii:

I'm glad you've been here around. That's where I grew up and spend every summer. I just love it there.
You know I lived in Budapest near Margit hid for a year when I was at postgraduate? Smile I love that city, I go back whenever I can. Haven't been there for more than a year now.

I made necessary adjustments to Dnieper Overlord version, now it should be quite clear about rules (they differ somewhat from this "pilot" version you playtested). If you catch some time, I would be grateful if you throw a glimpse at that and drop a few lines about it. I'll playtest it in the following weeks.

I cannot find the AAR, is there a chance it got lost somehow?
Hope not... Tnx!

Strange... but I can't see either the AAR which I posted yesterday... maybe that's why, because you've changed the scenario's ID number (ex. from 1 to 0). So I'll repost it as soon as possible.

Thanks! Your AAR is really a quality work. I'll post one for this scenario too when i test it. After some 400 (rough estimate) games of M44 I played I didn't still write a single AAR but now that I read this one, it seems like loads of fun.

Did you want to say that German side should be a little reduced in number of units so that Russian final numerical overwhelming power can better be felt? That surely isn't a scenario that should be easily won by Germans...

I checked and updated Overlord version, it should work very good now Smile

I also built a new Overlord to do some justice to battle in Bessarabia that was so far unknown in Memoir world Smile Take a peak, it's both simple and unusual. The Axis side is mostly very badly equipped and positioned (Rumanian army) opposed to perfectly positioned and strong Soviet forces. Incredibly, they won the battle due to Russian disastrous leadership and help of superior German infantry and artillery that rushed down the north-south highway making way for the Rumanian armor.

About the Crossing of the Dnieper: The best would be, if German victory medals would be deleted from the bridges. The medals on the crossing points of course, may remain.

EDIT: Sorry, only now I see the new version. But don't you think, that it's now a little bit more unbalanced? You just gave some more problems for the Soviet commander to think about! Anyway, it really looks much more realistic now Razz . Maybe the best option for balancing would be, to reduce reinforcements ( at least an infantry unit).

About the Bessarabian Operation: I've heard about the operation (sadly, because I live in Romania), but your scenario will surely give more information about the battle Smile .

Re:Scenario publishing problems - please help Fri, 04 September 2009 12:59
I have already reduced the reinforcements Smile for the Overlord and one - board versions. And now Being so that by means of rafts Soviet commander that can issue enough orders can cross in great numbers and build pontoons, as Soviets historically did, I think that the chances for them have greatly improved. Especially that the Germans are so criminally few in the beginning and have to deal with the paratroopers.

Why do you think the Dnieper should be even harder for the Russians now? I've played Jdrommel's Sedan overlord with Germans and experienced a real M44 horror of crossing the river while being shot at. In the Dnieper it should be much different because there are very few opponents in the first turns... Don't you think?

Bessarabian scenario I think has the great potential of being unpredictable and dynamic without two similar re-plays.
