Actually the hexes that you see are not gullies, but balkas, a new special terrain. They are not impassable, but you have to stop when moving in AND when exiting a balka hex. Of course, it also provides cover.

Maybe he is refering to the expansion and not the new terrain.

Oh great, oh fab, oh marvellous, when can I get one !?
Now can I nitpick...? I'd have liked it snow-covered, and grey, not green, and I cried when I got to the page and found that there were no new figs, and no Stukas...
But you really can't please some folks...
Like the sound of the cards!

I hear you on the winter format but apparently this is covering the beginning of the siege, maybe July - September 1942.
This will probably open the possibility for a October 1942 - February 1943 winter map with a lot of devastation.
I too think this would have been a good time to introduce bombers and the Stuka... A missed opportunity but at least we get a new deck that opens what appears to be many new options.

Interesting word - where does it come from? can't say I've ever come across a 'balka' anywhere else (unlike a gully, say)...
