Would Memoir 44 appeal to...

Would Memoir 44 appeal to someone who enjoys playing Risk, Stratego etc? Because I am going to my cousins house a week or so after Memoir 44 is supposed to arrive at my house and I want to know if somebody would think it is worthwhile to take it down. The reason im asking is because whenever I suggest playing a different game for us to play (2 player games since only me and him really play board games when we are at there house) he always wants to play Stratego. So does anyone think I would have a good chance of getting him to play Memoir 44?

Really difficult to say if he will like it, but I think you should give it a try.He should like it, as it is a good game. Why does he always suggest Stratego? Does he regularly beat you at it and like that or do you think he is afraid of trying new games? Or is he just a die-hard Stratego player?
Suggest a game of Stratego and a game of Memoir. Might do the trick.
Or set it up before suggesting it. Maybe the sight of the game setup can get him interested?

No one likes to start playing a game and lose every time to someone who knows the rules.
You might want to show him the basics and then take the side with the least advantage. You may lose some games, but win a new playing companion.

You did'nt say how old he is. May trying scenarios with a very few units in it would be better. He would only have to command a few units. You might try letting him command a flank, with only one objective. Hope this helps.

He is 13 years old just like me, and im not sure if its because he is a die-hard stratego fan or because he likes winning (which he wins probably 9 out of 10 times we play) is because why he suggests Stratego, I think its a combination of the two but mostly because he likes Stratego.

If he enjoys playing Risk and Stratego, you might also want to check out Small World.

Memoir '44 is definitely worth a try with your friend. Have you played it before? If not, it might be fun to learn together...unless he would like to have the game fully explained to him instead.
Check my User Page for some helpful documents that might ease the learning process. You might find the Memoir '44 Reference Page especially useful.
Have fun and good luck.
