Question about mines.

Hi everyone!
I realized that I never thought about mines. Just play.
So my question is can I mix mines from various expansions?
Or are they only suitable for a individual game?
Thanks for help.

There are as many thoughts on this as there are players.
Although some of the text in the DOW instructions for mines has you mixing them together, this may skew the mine results unfavorably to one side or the other. Imagine being in a mine field with all 4's - ouch! So in the end it is up to what you and your opponent agree on. No official ruling if that is what you are looking for. At least not yet. Tournament Masters will decide in the end.

Another question regarding mines.
Is the distribution of mines in the different expansions historical or just decided through playtesting?

I mix the mine tokens - the randomness and uncertainty still makes players think twice before entering a minefield. But I do keep the "European" (Achtung Minen!) tokens seperate from the Pacific theatre tokens.

The different expansions have distributions of mines. (You can find them in the Roll Call document on the Memoir "Rules & Goodies" page.
I'm aware of one scenario where it makes a big difference: The Mediterranean Pack has a higher percentage of 0 mines ... and one of its scenarios (Into the Cauldron) allows Axis to gain a medal for uncovering one. If I were playing with a mixed set, I'd be less likely to try for that medal.

Interesting
it never even occured to me to check ratios of mines - i just chucked them all into a little bag together when I was packaging things up.
As a general rule, I try to take out engineer units as early as possible in the battle, something my most common opponents don't seem to bother with. So from my perspective, strong mines are good, as my opponents generally can't remove them...
