Memoir 44 expansions Mon, 19 April 2010 19:14
what new memoir 44 expansions would you like to see?

I think it would be awesome to see an expansion that brings more special weapon assets like the flamethrower and machine gun plus have the plastic piece for the mortar

I think it would also be nice to see the french and the Italians get a full fledged army instead of just tokens to represent them

I'd like to see an equipment boxed set, same size as army boxes, that includes lots of new equipment and vehicles.

Now that I'm back into M'44, after a bit of a hiatus, I'm super stoked for whatever's around the corner. Very Happy

Re:Memoir 44 expansions Tue, 20 April 2010 07:02
new vehicles would be amazing.
I would like to see some light tanks with some sort of recon ability and things like the panther and tank hunters would be a lot of fun to play
there are a ton of cool things they could do with this game system I'm eagerly awaiting any expansion because they haven't let me down so far but I am really hoping the next expansion is an Italian army and then more special weapon assets.

New expansions would go good with the new brakethrough boards. There would be more room to maneuver. I'm looking forward to the new boards.

At this point, I'm just eager to see what DoW comes out with next! I'm confident, based on past experiences, that whatever they produce will be of the highest quality and will only add to my enjoyment of the Memoir '44 system! Very Happy

Can anyone guess what my favorite board game ever might be?? Laughing

Who do people think the next expansion will be aimed at?

will it be something for forum geeks - more units, more rules, more concepts to master, or something a bit more accessible.

Having acquired the expansions 1 or 2 at a time, I can get my head round most of the elements of memoir (except Brandenburgers, still puzzled by them) but if i introduce new people to the game, I generally find myself having to spend ages digging out a simple scenario without too many complex add-ons, planes, cards etc.

I would like to see either a French or Italian army pack. I think both will be forthcoming, or at least I hope so.

I think the Air Pack release gave me the most trouble when it first came out and it took me a while before I became somewhat at ease when using them.

But the other day I played a scenario with the night rules and in the first two turns with the visibility at "2" I tried three attacks at range "3" or longer Embarassed My opponent had to remind me that the range was only 2 hexes.

I guess I am so used to attacking during daylight I was on auto-pilot Laughing

The night attack rules are very fun in the battle for Normandy from the campaign book.
When they are used backwards fro the scenario "Nightwithdravel from....."
I like that scenario.

I would like to see an expansion more in the line of the "battle packs" for Combat Commander.

An expansion that tackles for instance Stalingrad and includes.
Scenarios in all three formats.
Linked scenarios in a campaign.
more terrain tiles. (Summer ruins, winter roads etc.)
Miniatures for Snipers, Stukas, cavalry, Katyushas, etc.
More combat cards.
Maybe a rule that lets you draw more Combat cards to make the battle even fiercer.

Other battles that could be tackled like this is Market Garden, The Allied landings in Italy, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, African advance, Winter War in Finland.

And since I really like how the French Resistance units paly, I'd like to see a Resistance expansion about the various Resistance fighting around Europe. Miniatures for the French and various other resistance organisations, terrain tiles, new resistance "combat cards" that allows more sabotaging and undercower operations. Scenarios, campaigns etc.

And more campaign books, battle maps and airplanes.

Interesting idea - would be fun to see a whole set of expansions for resistance and Partisans. Do people know how much material there is available? i.e. proper pitched battles involving them, rather than the sorts of tiny actions that cumulatively make a significant impact on a war, but individually don't have much gaming scope.

I was just thinking that it would be cool if they expanded on their combat cards.
It would be really interesting if they made them nation specific.
Like have a deck of 15 or so combat cards that are unique to that nation. I think it would add a lot of variety to the game and also show off how that particular nation fought historically.

Also I agree it gets a little confusing looking for a certain rule. if you don't know where it is you have to dig through several rulebooks. I think it would be helpful if DOW released a big book of rules and it brought all the current rules into one big book plus maybe a few new scenarios too.

Now that would be cool, actually -- A hardback "Captain's Edition" rulebook would rock!

* France 1940 or British 1943-5 expansions packs, each with new models and scenarios.
* Campaign Book 2 including Pacific and Italian campaigns.
* Pacific Overlord Battle Map

Any or all of the above please Very Happy

I think we will see the bottom two at least. Pacific needs a battlemap and some kind of campaign.

Not so sure about the first of your suggestions, although we can never have too many Resistance scenarios.

Just want tank and infantry models for French 1940 and British (Europe, not 8th Army. No need for new rules, models and scenarios would be just fine!

On a related topic, which expansion would you recommend I buy first? I only have the base set, but I'm itching to expand.

As you might imagine, this question comes up periodically. Here's a link to a thread on the subject earlier this year. http://www.daysofwonder.com/en/msg/?goto=185367#msg_185367

I keep hoping for a breakthrough map with an island and more ocean around it. At least one with beach and ocean on each end with more than one row of ocean hexes. And through in more ships to bombard that island! Or a campaign book with Pacific campaigns.
