Any plans to add an AI for single player mode? Thu, 29 April 2010 20:46
Hey Y'all!

Wondering if you've got any plans to add some form of computer opponent to Small World for iPad - the sad truth is that most of the times that I'd like to play, I'm standing alone in the subway or something, so I find I'm not getting a lot of use out of this app.

What say you?

Thanks!

Yes, I can officially confirm we do have plans for some single player AI.

Though we'd rather encourage people to use this wonderful device to engage in face to face games with friends, we also understand there are instances in which having an AI would be nice. So it's definitively in the pipeline.

We just can't predict an exact date for it yet, but it will happen by the time we get to 1.0.

That's good to hear about single-player.

I understand what you're saying about the desire to make it a face-to-face experience. But it's just not realistic for some of us (at least with any degree of regularity.)

So once that's in the game, I'll be ready to buy.

Thanks.

That's excellent news. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's "sooner" rather than "later."

You guys did an excellent job with this game, and the two updates to date are much-appreciated. And the fact that you had it ready to go on iPad launch-date is still something I'm shaking my head over.

But the reality for some of us is that a FTF experience is going to be the exception instead of the rule. Also, an AI opponent -- with its limitless supply of patience -- is the perfect tool to test out new and/or wonky strategies against.

I'll be eagerly awaiting any updates. Again, great job with the game.
