Re:WARNING Sat, 26 September 2009 20:00
I think Kolmo is saying ...

... Ace's vulgar PM doesn't justify Baraka's playing on vs bot as it happened afterwards, as a reaction

... therefore going public with Ace's PM after being made public as a 'botter' is - in Kolmo's eyes - a 'mean mean' to achieve the purpose of making Ace the one to blame instead of Baraka
(trying to justify the action based on the reaction)

The logical reasoning is absolutely correct.

... but ... as we are humans, not machines, logic isn't everything (and referring to it not always useful).
When I read wording like Ace's I honestly couldn't care less about who botted whom, when and why (therefore we don't know whether Baraka's actions were OK or not, as the original 'action' was never discussed here). Writing it in a PM (after time for thought) is even worse than an immediate reply in the lobby (when in rage).
Back to logic - the reaction isn't justified by the action at all.

I don't want this discussion to end with a (psycho-)logical essay, a 'sorry' here and a 'sorry' there.
I want all punks around to understand, that such rudeness is never ever OK - towards nobody (OK, when punks talk to punks do what you want, but first make sure that nobody else listens, e.g. that you don't happen to be in the middle of a fEUd cup game Wink ), and as no reaction to whatever.
No more 4 letter words in games, lobby, forum or PMs - OK?
Thank you!

I completely agree! Smile

DoW is very clear on their policy of swearing on these forums, games, lobbies and PMs as can be seen by MarkoPolo's sticky post. It doesn't matter what someone did, cussing them out should not be tolerated by this community!

Having said that, I'm glad Ace was willing to apologize to Baraka for the PM and I don't mean to be beating a dead horse. At this point I'm talking more about the problem as a whole, not the specific incident.

If I had to order the wrongdoings here, I'd pick swearing as the lesser one. Bullying is way worse. Bullying is not just being rude : it is intimidating. Done well, it can lead to psychological harassment. What Ace did can easily lead to bullying, but not only because of the swearing part. That said, Dea is right in pointing out that "being rude is not cool". Five words with the longest having 5 letters should be understandable, even for Ace :P

Public delation, and promoting delation as a virtue, is much worse, as far as I am concerned. Done well, it's an attempt to public humiliate someone, allegedly a wrongdoer, still devoided of any moral basis. This is bullying too, but even more destructive than the first form. We're not talking about rapists, here, are we ?

So, as I see it, this very thread is worse than what it is fighting. There are more positive ways to educate people about the fairness (the F word again) of not botting someone. People should at least consider the fact that one loss has no statistical significance over a few games : pick a calculator and see for yourself. Just ignore the botters, better put him on your ignore list, send pms to all friends if you need to vent, and move on.

Forgetting critical thinking is just too common to be that wrong. I'd settle to consider it obnoxious. So I won't bother with twisted interpretations thrown at me, at least here, to the relief of many for sure. This could very well be settled by pm.

PS: No, I won't snitch you here if you pm me.

I agree completely! That's why the cussing didn't make any sense over the loss!

Good luck in your games everyone, and have fun!

Next one who playes agaist a bot: Spugna

and aussi aka tüfftüff, too. I was just disconnected from a game against him/her. When my connection was in order again, aussi had already won against a bot: 134 vs 28 points. Great achievement!

@ snow: Spugna is already on this list (see above)

@ all: I agree with kolmo that one loss has almost no statistical significance once you have played a few dozen games afterwards.
So just ignore the bot-lovers and move on and let this thread die down once and for all...

She opened a swiss map, I double clicked on the game above this, and in between the two clicks, games' rows changed and ended up in her game. Explained, but she preferred to play against the bot.

Grats JPQueen for wining 182-93. Impressive score!

After I try to block his tix (van to santa fe), I lost the connection and then, he kept going before I came back.
The reason he kept going is that he thought he blocked me from van and I gave up. (well, I don't have any tix with van but he had. Laughing )
I played 6000+ games...first time, someone thought I give up and leave the game. Shocked
The ridiculous and lousy BS I have ever heard here.

Was kicked after we both chose tickets and managed to return after having collected 20 cards. Asked him/her why, but there was no response whatsoever.

maggijonss is and absolute cheat.
Twice i had to reboot only to find he played on and surrounded the boys play to make the route unplayable.
Why do these players have to cheat like this.
Avoid this player.

For those players who are still interested in playing honest and gentle players and hate to be kicked a$$ by faked newbees - avoid playing versus

timooo

he/she is definetely a second or a new starter account!

I played timooo twice today as he entered he had 350 games with ELO 1570, a few hours later he had 1640 with 410 games...

In our games he greeted with "hf" and built awesome experienced tracks (2nd he won with Cal Phoe Kan Hou), which showed he knew the game for more than 1 week...

And as I asked him/her who was his/her first account he/she reacted thin skinned and started to ask why I cannot imagine someone being that good... ridiculous!!!

I have my suspicions here but the most important thing is, for those that think like I do, dont join his/her games and dont tolerate it... You wouldnt suffer someone in real life if he takes you for a fool, right?!

Don't play with:

sarmad

He played very very slow as long as I was in the game (he needed about 30-60 seconds per move).

Once I was out, he hurried up incredibly fast, so that he finished the game about 3 minutes after my breakdown.

Not very kind.

Maalm, Teufelchen2, Sylvester

Probably the same player. I witnessed "Teufelchen2" calling him- or herself "idiot" after I blocked Edinburgh. So at least some classy introspectiveness. On the other hand, it might have been directed at me.

Interesting strategy to warn others not to play this player but keep playing him/her himself.
It happened to me at least once, that I did not notice that my opponent got kicked out and I finished vs the bot. I noticed it only at the very end and I am glad that nobody wrote warnings about not to play me anymore.

I have to add that in general I like the idea of warning others about players that show bad behaviour.

I will continue the black list... a duty! And I have lots of observers on my buddy list, that "appear" and change names every week... the next NC will come... my eagle eyes are open wide!

I just have a question, if you create a game and suddenly during the match your opponent leaves, it means that if you also leave a bot will replace you? or does it means that the match is over? I don't know that, please explain it to me. If I'm sure that the game stops automatically, then I won't play a bot again, that's not the correct way to win. Ok, Drake?

By the way, I noticed that there's a lot of players out there cheating. At least that's what I think, the classic problem with open games (you just need a second computer or a partner, I know many pleople here use to met with others via Skype or messenger), I won't give names (though I see that one of them is already on the list), but from now I'll play only private games, just as my games are.

Gracias gente.

If you both leave, the game will be cancelled (it won't play bot vs. bot). You just have to be careful if the other player tries to be sneaky and rejoins while you are leaving it won't get cancelled. I think it happens more if you aren't the game creator. I usually wait 10-15 seconds after we both leave and try to go back just to be sure it got cancelled.

The proper thing to do is wait a few minutes to see if opponent returns, and if not then leave - at least for people over 1400+ or so. Low ranked people leave all the time, so I play on.

I often will be in a 4 person game and awaiting for other people to join and I will see the host (not me) go out into the lobby and call for more players. I asked how did they do that and they said that they have another window open. It seems that a LOT of people have asecond window open and my fear is that it is too easy and too tempting to take a peak at your opponents cards in open games.

Hecki in an earlier post said that they had noticed a suspicious name observing one of their games. How can you tell who is observing a game?

I agree with Hecki in that I always hide cards if I am hosting. Not that my games are that interesting to anyone.... Very Happy

Whatever you write in the game room can be seen in the lobby before the game actually starts, so definitely no need for a second window open.

You may be right -- the context was a 4-player game so I didn't think about closed games. With open 4-player games you can definitely shout out "multiiiiiiiiiiii" into the lobby.

Saphira 94: self announced today in the lobby as Zoubaiers daughter (German) 168 games 1619 ELO...

2 games today: Excused him/herself as he/she had 42 in north and then won with longest in a more than suspicious way versus my 3tix game: van mon, cal phoe, port phoe...

We all know what that is?

Join her/his games for "make the micky part 128" ... I will report if he/she changes the name...

@Mudda
I would have prefered, if you wrote me a PM instead of posting in the forum. My daughter told you, who is her father.

@All
I'll write down here some facts, so everyone is able to build up his own mind.

1. I've got a 15 years old daughter, playing under the nick Saphira94.

2. Recently, I stated this 2nd family-account in the forum (Declaration of honor).

3. My daughter has never taken part in a tourney.

4. We never watched a game with our 2nd account, while giving the player hints about tix or cards of the opponent.

5. Sometimes my daughter is playing on her own. Sometimes we're playing together. Sometimes we're playing against each other (with her winning sometimes). And sometimes - I confess - I played under her nick (after I reached 1700+, being anxious of going under 1700).

So please tell me, what my daughter or I have done wrong. I can't see any cheating.

I have a lot of respect for the opinions of the top players in the community. So please post your opinions. If the majority thinks, that me or my daughter are cheaters, we'll stop playing immediately.

Regards
Zoubaier
