Sound? Thu, 10 June 2010 16:10
Probably a dumb question, but I'm having problems with my sound card at the moment:

Is there supposed to be any sound ingame?

I'm guessing there is no sound yet because I've turned up my volume and I can still only hear the sound effects I'm making,

Quote:

"Ouch! That was a good roll."
"No. If I had know he had that card..."
"Ha! Take that, Artillery!"
"WHAT?! Their Finest Hour and that's all I rolled! I would hate to see a normal day for these guys!"
"NOOO!!"
"It's about time. Kaboom, you won't bother me anymore!"

So unless I'm losing it and Johnny is saying those things, I don't think we have sound. Very Happy

Yes, it would be good to hear the rat-a-tat-tat as the guns are fired. I know that to some it may seem a bit morose. But for those of us who still feel like we are twelve year old boys, it would be a blast.

It would be more morbid if you wanted to hear the groans and screams of the dying men! Shocked Confused

Maybe the sound will be a quiet running narrative by the computer, kind of like a sportscaster who is reporting on a golf tournament...

"Oh, will you look at that. He just played his Recon card! That is an interesting move."

"Well Jim, it did seem to pay off when you see what he drew. The thing I like about that move was that it gave him options! At this point in the game that can really decide a match."

"True, Hank, very true. For all our listeners out there, I wanted to remind you that we're joining you from the front lines on Sword beach where the weather has really improved over the last few days. You have to love June in Normandy!!"

Thanks for the color commentary Ras. I liked the hushed tones of the announcers, so that they wouldn't disturb the armor loaders as the teed up for the big shot.

"Well, Hank, did you see that? He missed a surefire medal for the win there. All he had to do was BEL onto the objective hex. Very poor. Almost as bad as playing in goal and letting the ball slip through your fingers in a soccer World Cup qualifying match, only to watch it trickle agonisingly over the line to tie up a game you were odds-on to win, and then wonder why you didn't get your body fully behind the ball. You wonder WHY! WHY! WHY! WHY!...

It's ok, Hank. I'm calm again now."

That was painful to watch and he definitely should have saved it...shooting at the goal keeper should not result in a goal during the World Cup!! Mad Confused

Just so long as the keeper isn't so angry with himself that he doesn't perform well in the future games, England should do pretty well! Cool

I think the USA will have to get some more lucky shots, if they want to keep going...! Razz
