How to become a beta tester? Sun, 06 June 2010 14:41
Memoir '44 Online is currently in an initial "Closed Beta" phase. This means that the software is now in the hands of a (very limited) number of handpicked players we selected. The reason why this beta is not open to volunteer play-testers yet is because the software - and our support crew - just aren't ready to support a large stable of play-testers yet.

But the day will come... As we make progress, we will gradually increase the number of beta testers. Depending on your level of involvement, activity on our forums, as well as the unique skills or profile we think you might contribute to our testing, you will qualify at some point. Our objective is to move toward an Open beta, where enrollment will be open to all willing play-testers, in as smooth a manner as possible.

In the meantime however, please don't write, call or PM us to volunteer. We understand that many of you would love to try the software as soon as possible, but we need to remain focused on our code and test plan for the moment. Any minute we spend answering requests that we wouldn't be able to fulfill anyway is a minute we're not spending getting us close to the Open Beta.

When we feel that the software is ready, we will switch to this "Open Beta" phase. At that point, every one will be able to download and try the software.

One last thing: there is no need to ask us about release dates and pricing at this point, because in all honesty, we don't know for sure yet. We will post regular updates on this forum as the project matures, however. So stay tuned and in the meantime, sharpen your playing skills with the board game, as you will eventually have a whole new world of opponents to confront!

Very Happy

No there won't be an Italian version, but you will be able to use Italian Officer titles and insignias next to your name Smile

Ditto that, I'm a complete newbie to Memoir '44, so if you want a perpsective from somebody who is still new to the game then let me know in due course.

I'm Unique ! I played a paladin from beta till end of Plane of Time era in EQ. Anyone else who played during that time knows how dedicated one must be to have played that class excusively during such horrid times! Clearly worthy of beta tester status!

Should you need a Belgian beta tester who has played all base scenario's several times over, feel free to toss me a beta invite. I'm dying to play this game with new blood.

Anyways, I've got the base game, and several of the expansions (terrain pack, winter/desert board, campaign book, hedgerow hell, tigers in the snow, eastern front). I have a fairly good grasp of the rules and know most of them by heart.

So yea, there you have it: my beta application.

To all beta-tester candidates:

Thanks to all for volunteering for this dangerous mission. We have not opened the beta program in a broader manner yet, but stay tuned for news.

Thanks for your understanding,

Yann

I thought you said, that volunteering will be available only after the open beta will be available as well.

If not, I'm volunteering as well.

Hi Yann,

LOL the worst thing for any software company who is beta testing their software is to say dont apply or volunteer, because you know your going to get everyone and his dog who loves your software somehow come up with a way of volunteering.

Individuals will find anyway possible of offering their services to test your great game.

They will even say stuff like, they have all of Memoir 44 and expansion packs, they will even say that they have Battle lore..

And that they play the game extensively even playing in their sleep...

They will also say that they have beta tested games for over 20 years from Populous I (Yes I am that old), Syndicate, Populous II, DK, Diablo, Eve, matrix online, DDO, LOTRO, and currently WOT...

They will even show you their membership to NATO so that if someone happened to drop out from the closed beta or DOW was looking for that additional dedicated tester, DOW would know this guys is both fun and a serious tester to have on the team, and put him on the list.

As for me, if at some stage you are looking for any additional testers, you know you have my volunteering!

Regards Zesty

You didn't show your NATO membership, nor anything else, but you still offered your services. Sneaky method, but still worth mentioning...

There is an easier way to offer your services; be active when no beta-testing is available.

By the way, I'd really like to play even when I'm sleeping, and I do have all the expansions, but I won't mention these things, as these aren't pros for being a beta tester.

I know 3 months is a long time!

Whats the latest Beta Team?
Are all your beta testers, thoroughly testing?
If they need a break then I am sure some of the latest volunteers would love to do some testing for you! Laughing

The issue is not with the existing beta-testers, who've already given us a lot of valuable feedback. It's just that there's still a lot we're working on. More news as soon as we can...

Yes, some beta tests can take forever..trust me, I know. That is all I do - is test software. And you can keep finding items in 3 months or longer.

And remember, the longest beta test software is Microsoft Windows <G>

Plans are still on to have it go into open beta during next week. Watch this site for the announcement. That will most likely also include how you can sign up.

It has become a very good game, and I can't wait for the moment there are more players available online.
