Candy store

I feel like a kid, pocket full of money, standing outside the candy store, looking in the window, drooling over everything I see, just waiting for the store to open....
Y'all are being watched... just look at how much the view vs post is on everything...
I think other kids are crowding in also, waiting for the store to open.

It's hard to read all these posts about how good - despite the bugs - Memoir '44 online is, when we don't/can't know when we might get a chance to join in.
As a software developer (16 years) I plenty of experience in alpha and beta testing, documenting and reporting bugs. I'm ready and waiting for the open beta.

To be honest the issue for the next couple of weeks/months, is that we're simply not yet set-up to handle more beta-testers than the handful we have. But the moment we can start adding more people, we will.

wow...
the OTHER forum looks a little... um....
ABANDONED!
Yes I want, but come on guys, we have been waiting over 4 years, let them do their job and then we can play too. In time.
in the meantime we still have our favorite "board" game.

Randwulf has a point; while some guys have joined the beta testing, who previously have held together the crew, now there is no one to welcome newcomers, to clarify rules and to introduce their own ideas. For the last 6 days, the forum (all Memoir forums) became the synonym of the desert. I hope that soon DoW could put this game online, and there would be no differences between players.

While some of the beta testers are indeed frequent posters (which might explain the drop-off in messages in the regular folder), they are a tiny number (we have less than a dozen English speaking beta testers in the program right now).
We will gradually open up the beta to more people but I want to set realistic expectations: This won't happen overnight, and we are definitively months away from being able to open the beta to everyone, not to mention releasing 1.0
It's not that we don't want to or that we don't work hard. It's just that there are simply too many things that don't work yet to make this feasible. Doing so too early would just delay the final game and its quality, rather than help.
You will have to trust us that we know what we're doing and will be as open as we can as time goes by.

I have to say that there are effectively a few bugs that have to be fixed for the moment.
Of course we enjoy to test this on line version, but it's sometimes hard to be interrupted by a bug, and to be anable to achieve the mission.
Wait for a while: I can assure you it will be fantastic at the end!

Of course we understand, that there are many troubles with releasing a game online, bugs have to be avoided, so beta-testers are required to report them. I was 'complaining' about the fact, that active players have been called for this task. Indeed, not everyone can report correctly a bug, but I think most players can cope with this task.
One more thing: I can't wait to buy the online version, it looks so exciting as I read the reports of Jesse and 'Mr. Bump'! But let us don't forget the meaning of boardgames, as they really do provide much more fun than any computer game.

No worry we won't forget the board game side of things. On the contrary, we think the Online version can help it even bigger, stronger and more vibrant than it already is!
We've seen that time and again (with Ticket to Ride and its Online version, and more recently with Small World and its iPad version).
