What's next for Memoir '44 "Any Teasers?" Tue, 06 July 2010 03:22
I just want to start by saying thank you DoW for a wonderful game. Great job and great support. So what is coming next?? Any clues or teasers would be nice. Very Happy If there is a thread out there about this already sorry didn't see it. Just send me a link. Thanks again

Good luck with that! I love the support we have from DoW, but we don't know what is coming until just before it hits the shelves. I'm not complaining, I recently bought a game that had a piece missing. I email DoW and they sent me the missing piece. I think everyone at Days of Wonder are doing a wonderful job of supporting their games. And I think they have wonderful games. I own Memoir 44, Pirates Cove, and I am thinking of buying one of the ticket to ride games after playing one at a convention last month. I bought Pirate's Cove at the convention. But I've learned to be happy with the expansions I've got and wait patiently for anything new. Welcome to the club!

Thanks for the info. Can't hurt to ask. The support here is great and my brother and me play this game for hours on end. My brother has Pirates Cove but I haven't played it with him, although he likes it and so does his kids.

As 50th says, Days of Wonder tend to be a bit cagey about what's coming up (because as soon as they announced something, we want it the following day) - but don't worry, if you look around the forum, you can find numerous threads filled with endless speculation about what might be coming soon...

I've been very happy with Memoir '44 products thus far. While I want stuff now now now and am always eager to see new products, I'm glad that DoW has generally avoided quick and easy cash-ins. Instead, we're usually getting a strong product. That's good.

New armies are always a plus. I'm hoping for infantry add-ons or new expansion maps.

Are you talking about getting some pre-printed Breakthrough maps? Because the Breakthrough Kit also provides a sizable stack of Breakthrough Boards!! Very Happy

I like the idea of more pre-printed Breakthrough battles! The printed maps are so great because they allow you to set up so much faster. Razz

Those are great ideas. Now I will be picking up a larger piece of Plexiglas. I use them for my Axis & Allies Miniature game. It should work with these maps as well.

I have been using one for the standard map for about a year, now I'll have to get a bigger one for breakthrough.

Never thought about using it for standard map. I use that clay stuff you buy in little sticks, to put up posters on your wall, to hold down the tiles. Works good the tile stay-put.

Another method to hold down the maps is heavy-gauged clear poly sheeting. Some fabrics stores (like JoAnn's Fabrics) sells this stuff by the yard, and it comes in different gauges. Roll it up tight for storage and then unroll it and place over the maps and you're good to go!

I discovered it at my Mom-in-laws...she uses the stuff on a dining table she has on a sun porch. Brilliant!

I use it for my Axis & Allies Miniatures maps (land and sea games) as well as some older paper map wargames.

Very Happy

Try that stuff you put up posters with. It comes in little sticks and looks like clay or Silly-Putty.

Well, I got three pieces, but...

I had sticker shock today - my oh my, has the price of plexi gone up. I remember getting a very large sheet (60 x 72) for around $30. Now that price has doubled. The only way for me to get a one pc OL section was to buy the $60 section. But I could not get a Breakthrough size and a regular size pc out of the rest of it.

So I settled for two regular size ($15 a pc) and a breakthrough size ($18).

With my new plexi pcs that fit my boards, this will be possible after securing the plexi to the boards via clips (either plastic or metal). That way, if anything shifts, it is the entire setup.

Almost half a year has passed after the announcement of the most recent (very nice!!) expansion "Winter Wars". What great expansions could be presented in the near future (except for the online-version)? Somebody, any ideas/suggestions? Rolling Eyes

I agree with that.

a Battle map for the Landing on Tarawa or Iwo Jima. Or street fighting in Manila Or the clash between the Japanese 2nd Armored division and the US 1st Cav near Clark AFB would be nice.

The comment about the 'top sticky' was back in July...so by now whatever was at the top has been released and is being enjoyed by many Memoir '44 fans! Cool

It may have been the Winter Wars expansion...but I would have to look back at the release dates. Don't get your hopes up too high about Randwulf's comment. Smile

A model of a train and a wagon maybe.
Maybe a flat wagon so you can put a artillerie unit on it if needed.

A model of a road block.

While it would be cool, I hope that DoW would include some other fun figures along with it. Smile

Very Happy Luckily for us, there are so many great expansions out already...

But we all know that if another expansion comes out you'll manage to scrape the money together and get it, just like the rest of us! Embarassed

I sometimes remind myself that a great Memoir '44 expansion is about like one dinner eating out, and that helps me justify my desire for more Memoir '44 fun!!! Cool

1/144 models are available - search the net.

I've bought some Jagdpanthers & a M18 Hellcat.
Mix these with standard units for example the Hellcat with armour or artillery to indicate mobile artillery. Similarly the Jagdpanthers mixed with the panzers to indicate Tank Destroyers.
