Will Pre-Order direct from DoW mean that I get the expansion beforeit becomes available from UK retailers? If so, I'm in.

EDIT: Ignore my ramblings. Just realised the Euro store is located in Germany where VAT is indeed 19% (I had queried why it was 19% when in the UK it's only 17.5%).
2nd EDIT: Just worked out that using the DOW exchange rate and postage costs, it's actually cheaper for me to order these from the US store than from the EU store, for delivery to the UK?
|
If you have it shipped to Austrailia first, it might be cheaper still

Ordered it from the EU store eventually, following an online warning about customs duty if it comes from the US.
I suppose it would have been cheaper (on postage) to wait until it is available from a UK store............but I just couldn't wait Plus I ordered the extra set of cammand cards while I was at it.

You won't regret the double deck for the Breakthrough games! The look on my son's face when I played 2 consecutive Ambush cards...

Yeah I started using the double-deck and at one point (with my son) we played TFH, counter-attack, counter-attack, and TFH cards. It was quite a bloodbath (and required a lot of reshuffling).

I played at a convention with one deck where I drew TFH. replaced it in the pack, shuffled the deck, cut the cards, took the top card........TFH again!!!

Will the new battle map include a couple of standard scenarios like Tigers and Sword did? I like those too. Just a thought. Wow, I've made over 600 posts. Guess I've been around for while.

The new battle map is supposed to have 4 new standard scenarios. Pretty nice I must say! This installment is a great bargain IMO given the 12 special figures!

I just got back from a convention, where both of the Overlords from this expansion were played.
I have now played Dieppe twice, both times as Axis.
> First time, the Germans won, 10-3, with most of the medal advantage being against the Allied right flank. The score should have been much closer, but the Brits rolled only 33% hits with their dice.
> Second time, the Germans won again, 10-7, with the German left flank making the difference.
[Note: I initially, erroneously, reported that one of my plays had been as Allies. I have made several corrections here. I'm looking forward to trying the Jeeps myself.]
I saw the setup for Tobruk, which looks incredible: Lots of German tanks, facing lots of entrenched British infantry, with noplace for the Germans to retreat. Nitric acid and glycerine. Unfortunately, I wasn't available to participate in the game.
I'm looking forward to having my own copy of this one!

Arrived today along with my extra sets of command cards for playing breakthrough (so I haven't got to bother splitting them up again afterwards).
My Compulsive Obsessive Disorder for having every expansion has been satiated
Also just received one of these (the tower version) http://www.thediceshoponline.com/dice-search/footlocker which I absolutely love Bit expensive, but I treated myself.

Yeah, I've started down that slippery slope (of having to own 2 copies of everything). Got a second Eastern Front expansion and a second Hedgerow Hell (so I could paint the trucks and have extras for different colors or if I messed up).
Still looking for more Tigers and might have to double up on the Half-Tracks.

I not only enjoyed it, I won as the British! 15-14! My opponent couldn't roll or get good command cards at the start, and I was getting poor command cards towards the middle, but I came back with a BANG! See the pics on my user page.

Presonally, I found the Tobruk scenario to be rather boring and not up to the level of excellence of the previous battle maps. Basically a slugfest since there is very little room given the narrow width of the board (which is standard I know). I played this several times and rarely was there any time to maneuver with the result that we rarely if ever used the half-tracks. Its pretty much all out battle from the start. It may have been better had the battle map been a bit wider as in the Operation Market Garden scenario, thus allowing more room for planning an offensive. But maybe not.
Operation Crusader breakthrough kit scenario is far better, though less focused on Tobruk. I think a scenario somewhere between these two would yield better results.
