Using Overlord Maps for standard scenarios

I was wondering if anyone else has tried this. I took the Hedgerow Hell map that uses the supply trucks and folded it in half so I could have a pre-printed standard size scenario. I chose the left side of the map (allied perspective), halved the command cards and victory medals and went to it.
The scenario was fun and as well balanced as any other I've played. The allies won both games by one medal. I loved being able to set up quickly without having to fiddle with terrain and the scenario played smoothly solo.
I am starting a game club at my school and I like the idea of using the OL maps for standard scenarios because they play quickly.
Just thought I'd inquire.

This has actually been suggested before by Richard Borg, and he also said , just as you did, halve the command cards and medals to get a balanced scenario.

Hadn't thought of this. Sounds like a great idea.

have done this with SoS - worked well.
Am less convinced about Tigers in the Snow - doesn't seem to have that much left-right balance: works fine as an overlord, but as a standard size can see it being very skewed.
