Aucune chance sur iPhone en l'état actuel, pour d'évidentes raisons de taille d'écran. Tres improbable sur iPad pour des raisons logicielles (il faudrait réécrire l'ensemble du code, qui n'est pas compatible avec iOS).

You can always get a translation using an online translator!
Basically the question was about if Memoir '44 Online will be developed for the iPad...and Eric said that it's not likely because of logistical reasons. That's the general idea anyway.

You and me both!!!
I don't know much about programming, but I've heard that the iPad is a completely different beast (from a software point of view) so it would require a reworking of the whole Memoir '44 Online program. It's possible that one day DoW will create an iPad version but not yet.

One can always hope!! I would guess that if Memoir '44 Online is extremely successful in the computer version, DoW would be more willing to put the time and effort into writing an iPad version, so make sure to play Memoir '44 Online a whole bunch when it comes out and tell all your friends about it! The more the better.
@ Funlerz - I think that Apple actually has done a pretty good job making their stuff compatable with other companies! It's Windows that doesn't make its stuff compatable with Mac. For example...if I write a paper in 'Pages' (the Mac version of 'Word') I can easily export the paper into 'Word' and then open it with any PC. It does not work the other way around! If you make something on a PC, you're plumb out of luck if you want to use any other system!!!

Hmmm, well anyways, it still doesnt allow me to just use the direct recording without making it an MP3 (maybe its just audacity )

Call me old fashioned, but couldn't you just try talking to him

Well that would be great, but im only at the German class once a week, its part of a homeschool group I go to, and calling would work but he teaches other classes most of the day and im to busy at night to call him then.

Dear friends,
Programming on the iPad means recoding completely from scratch the "client" side, i.e. the software that runs on your Mac or PC.
We use Java to develop this, which is a universal language that allows us to kill 3 birds with one stone: that's why you get a Windows, Mac and Linux version of Memoir '44 Online with each beta.
Now the bad news: it is not possible to run a Java application on an iPad or an iPhone. Apple prevents it specifically.
So any development on iPad or iPhone has to be carefully weighted beforehand. Memoir '44 Online is no simple application.
Personally, I would LOVE to play it on my iPad, but let's finish the Mac/PC version first. There is still plenty of work left there

Apple Discontinuing Java Installation Packages for Mac OS X?
Thursday October 21, 2010 11:01 AM EST
Written by Eric Slivka
A number of readers have pointed out that Apple's developer documentation for its Java updates for Mac OS X released yesterday reveals that the company appears to be ceasing future distribution of its custom-ported Java packages.
Java Deprecation
As of the release of Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 3, the version of Java that is ported by Apple, and that ships with Mac OS X, is deprecated.
This means that the Apple-produced runtime will not be maintained at the same level, and may be removed from future versions of Mac OS X. The Java runtime shipping in Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard, and Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, will continue to be supported and maintained through the standard support cycles of those products.
It is not entirely clear what the move means for the future of Java on Mac OS X, as Apple has long been criticized for moving slowly on releasing updates to Java and it is possible that Oracle could roll out its own Java packages (as it does for Windows and Linux) on a more timely basis.
On a possibly-related note, Apple has noted in the guidelines for its forthcoming Mac App Store that applications using Java and other deprecated or optionally-installed technologies will not be accepted. Developers are of course free to distribute such applications through other means, but the move appears to be another sign of Apple opting to de-emphasize certain third-party technologies in its products.
Apple's long-standing issues with Adobe Flash are of course well-documented, with the company opting not to support Flash on its iOS devices and now even shipping its new MacBook Air without Flash pre-installed.
