Looks Nice: an expansion that fills in some holes: winter hills, special breaktrough cards,... Looking forward to it. Best of all: more battles in Belgium!

No the French and English versions are completely separate because there are way too many cards in this expansion, ie 20 Winter Combat + 80 BREAKTHROUGH Command cards + Summary cards...
So you will either get French OR English depending on which version you purchase.

This looks really good, and have you thought about the possibilities for future expansions this creates.
So many famous battles or operations. Stalingrad, Ivo Jima, Guadalcanal etc.
I guess this is what Richard meant when he said we would get rules covering the old Bulge scenarios and the discussion about Artillery/Air Power card.
Excited to get the Breakthrough deck, even if I have 2 decks dedicated for Breakthrough.

Me too. The double deck brought an extra dimension to Breakthrough and I don't regret buying them.
Just the dice to upgrade and we're there!

This is fantastic news. The Ardennes offensive and Winter battles (Winter War 1939/40 as well as the Russian Front) are my favourite WW2 periods.

This looks like it will add alot of new good stuff to the game.
In the description it states: New Troops, including the all new Tank Destroyer and Heavy Anti-Tank Gun units and Late War model versions of an Anti-Tank Gun, Mortar and Machine Gun
Are these troops represented by plastic units or by badges?

I am most excited for the breakthrough deck of cards. From the one card I can see it looks like it lets you order 2 units on the left flank then lets you just move (but not battle) with 2 other units.
I like this idea. It lets your forces be more mobile and get more things done but it won't let you get medals that much faster.
More movement and fun while still keeping the length and epicness of breakthrough how fun.
I could be totaly wrong on this though. This is just the impression that I get from the one card I can see. I'm sure whatever DoW has done will be incredible though.

Probably around the time Winter Wars start shipping. We've been tweaking a number of things in the Scenario Editor, because of our own internal needs for M44 Online, so there hasn't been an update in a while, but all the new terrain, badges, etc.. should show up around then, if all goes according to plan.

This expansion sounds great. I'm very happy to hear there is continuing support for the breakthrough format. I think that format takes this game to a new level.

I'd say this isn't what I was expecting, but it sort of is. Aside from the "equipment" expansion discussed every now and then, one direction I expected to see from the game has been expansions focused on specific types of combat. I always thought urban combat was an obvious one, but this falls in line with that.
And I like what I see. This looks like a good way to build specialized combat into the game without burdening the whole thing down with rules.
REALLY like the idea of a small winter combat deck, as I greatly enjoyed the urban combat deck.
I'm a sucker for minis, so yeah, I lament that there are none ... but that is not a complaint. I'm sure they'll come in a broader pack later.
Count me in on this one. I've only skipped two M44 products so far (campaign bag and overlord pack). I won't be skipping this one. Looks like a strong expansion that HOORAY gives me a good reason to use my Breakthrough boards.

Oh yeah, I like the improved Mortar units. I was getting annoyed with the standard mortar rules (since I usually find, in existing scenarios, it is hardly worth activating such a unit if it can't fire after moving).
It strikes me the Winter Forest card could be more generally applied to all forests, but I guess this is a winter expansion. Consider this a suggestion for a card or deck for standard (non-winter) country side scenarios. I guess the possibilities are endless (desert combat deck, jungle, etc.)
Out of Fuel is a good idea also!

Note that the new Mortar SWA card is #6 "Late War 1942 -- not a replacement for the SWA card #3 Mortar

Looking at the rules, SWA cards 4 & 5 must be Late War 1942 ATG and MG

The Winter Wars rules state:
"Movement: An ordered Infantry unit with a Mortar
may move 1 hex and battle or move 2 hexes and not
battle."
If you didn't know, the rules for WW are available to download.

Look at page 9 of the new rule book for Winter Wars - The Ardennes Offensive. You'll see that it says these new SWA rules should be used for 1942 battles and onwards. So it's official that they would be used in the Vercors Campaign and not just your good idea!
It's nice when something is officially retroactive in its application to the game.

for card #6, it also says at the bottom there, ignores line of sight, thats just for when it fires like a mortar though because of what it says about moving and battline like infantry.

I hate to add something to the plate... but now that you have M'44 Online Beta going and Winter Wars is shipping... Are the plans still going well enough to release the updated scenario editor?

Got my three copies yesterday and I gotta say its some seriously good stuff to add to everything else in the series. With each expansion/supplement this game gets more detailed. My wife is playing this one with me almost every night now and she loves it too... which is a FIRST for this type of game.
Perhaps one day I'll get her to learn Squad Leader
